More of Him and less of us!

Dear friends!

We hope this letter finds you well and that you're growing in your walk with Christ! Our start of the year has been marked with a desire for more of Him. It is easy to get caught up in all the things we can or should do for Christ, but to miss out on our intimacy with Christ. It is easy to go through the motions of our daily and weekly rhythms, but slowly lose our first love for Him. But Jesus is calling us back. More of Him and less of us! "Break us out of our comfort zones and lead us into radical steps of obedience to You." That is our prayer for ourselves and our prayer for you. May He get all the glory!

With this in mind, here are some of the ways God has been leading us in walking out this truth.

Mobile Cafe

As a team we have been praying, how do we reach out more to the families of the children who come to our kids club. The idea came to do a mobile cafe with a focus on building relationships with the parents and to get to know people in the newer blocks of the neighborhood. Our set up is simple, a few chairs, table and some tea and coffee in front of one of the blocks. Then we start to chat to people who are walking by. We have had some great conversations with many moms and grandmas over a simple cup of coffee. There are many good relationships building, of which one is a grandma who is seen as an elder in the neighborhood. She had some health issues that she shared and one of our staff was able to pray for her. These conversations have led to many open doors for the team to visit them in their homes and we are excited to see where this will lead. The key for us is to faithfully continue the mobile cafe to see relationships built.

Testimonies from different ministries!

Kings Kids Next Generation - 3 teenage boys who we have been working with for approximately the last 5 years stopped coming to our youth group. We were really disappointed and heartbroken by some of the decisions they were making. These past weeks they have come back to the youth group and are bringing friends with them. We are so happy to see them again.

Evangelism in the Park - We have been going to our local park every Friday for last few years. This came out of wanting share our community life with our local neighborhood. We play games, field hockey, and invite people at the park to join us. We have been able to make wonderful connections. There are children, families and grandparents that wait for us to come and are ready to join in right as we get there. All because we just showed up as a community. What God can do through something unconventional is amazing!

Mobile Cafe - During our Cafe time we had the opportunity to pray for a lady who we met through this ministry. The first time we met her she did not want us to pray. Since then we have been intentional in visiting her and getting to know her. This last time we were there she came over and told us she had pain. We asked we if could pray for the pain to leave and she said yes! We prayed over her and she said the pain was less. She felt pin-pricks and then heat in her leg. She felt God strengthening her. It is wonderful what God has done with this new ministry that we are able to serve this wonderful woman.

Next Door Community Center

Our Next Door building project is coming along! We have had progress in our kitchen area, the ceilings, the bathrooms, and soon we will have a design to complete the rest. We are blessed that a company is working on creating that design along with some other helpful tools for us to finish our project. We are excited about what God wants to do through this place and our hope is to have it done before the beginning of Summer! Because of the renovations that have been done we started using the building regularly. We have all community times there including worship and intercession, as well as, we have moved our Girls Group and Kings Kids Next Gen. there. It so great to have a large space for our community times and weekly ministry to do activities in.
