Disturbing words. Imagine reaching out to people you wish to help, your own neighbors, only to be rejected. This has happened to many of us. Our heart is in the right place but because our help is not the conventional sort, or the way “it’s always been done,” we are devalued. Taking time and patience to listen is a challenge when so often we are quick to a knee jerk reaction. Learning to pause, to listen, and not overreact is paramount. Practice this as we begin the 3rd week of Lent. Focus on pausing and listening as the week progresses.
