Since we opened registrations for the Seaside Cruizers’ Father’s Day Show’ N Shine on January 24th, 359 of the available 625 spots we have are already taken. This year marks the 30th. Anniversary of the Seaside Cruizers Car Club, and we wanted to celebrate this milestone with a ‘special design’ for our Father’s Day Event T-shirts. Many of you may be asking yourself, how and why we chose the cars in this year’s design ? And yes, there was a great deal of thought put into it.
As you know, each year we have a new design and normally do not ‘date’ our t-shirts. Only the special anniversary ‘Limited Edition’ t-shirts are the exception. Our design team went to work. Most of our designs incorporate the past year’s ‘Best of Show’ winner. So from 2022, the ’59 Ford Fairlane owned by Miles D. of Parksville is one car featured.
Unfortunately, the 1993 North American designed production cars weren’t particularly inspiring to us for use on our t-shirt. So we looked outside the box, and discovered that the Plymouth Prowler, described as ‘America’s Only Production Hot Rod’ , was introduced as a ‘Concept Car’ at the 1993 auto shows. Concept cars rarely hit the production line, but the Prowler went into production in 1997, mostly looking identical to the one introduced in 1993, and initially available only in the colour ‘Metallic Purple’.
We are always looking for unique and meaningful designs for our t-shirts and are sure that we have another ‘winner’ for 2023.

Our Little Deuce Coupe certainly is “No Trailer Queen”. It has spent a lot of its life on the road. Originally built in Windsor Ontario as a High Boy. It’s a Downs Custom 3 Window Coupe on a TCI chassis, 350 Chevrolet Ram Jet, 700R4 Transmission with an 8” Posi. Painted in a Chrysler colour called “Light Champagne”.
Our hot rod has been on the road entering numerous shows with the Can Am Curmudgeon Group and Street Rodder Magazine Tours, to places like Walla Walla Washington, Idaho, Montana & Utah, BCHRA events in the lower mainland including the recent Hot Rod Reunion in Mission, several Deuce Days shows in Victoria, shows in Sechelt, Pemberton, Parksville, Qualicum Beach and, three Peach City Cruise Shows in Penticton.
Two tours in Southern California & Arizona. One with Street Rodder Magazine entering in shows & garage tours in Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Long Beach & Lake Havasu, including crossing the Mojave Desert several times. One tour was over three weeks long starting with the LA Roadster Show, Peterson Museum, down through San Diego, Phoenix & onto Las Vegas as the Street Rodder Tour was part of the outside displays at the SEMA Show. The Seaside Cruizers Car Club is a Non-Profit Society. Our members are proud of the work we do to organize and host a quality Father’s Day Weekend of events each year. Our collective efforts along with the generous support of our sponsors enable us to donate net proceeds from our annual events to local charities and other non-profit and community support groups. After having no events and no revenue for 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we were able to recover financially and still able to donate more than $27,000.00 to local charities. Below is a list of the charitable benefactors and community groups that we have selected to receive donations from the net proceeds of our 2022 Father’s Day Weekend Events. Errington Elementary School Breakfast Program
One of our selected beneficiaries of funds raised in 2022 is the Errington Elementary School Breakfast Program. A cheque was presented to the Principal, Sheila Morrison by Seaside Cruizews’ Club President, Alex Plonka, who advised that there is a great need for this program in the Errington area.
