Online Resources for Native Seeds

Seed Information Database

The database with its updated user interface is now housed on the website of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER)

TWS – Testing Wild Seeds project

“TWS is designed to help seed analysts find protocols for testing a wild species and thereby improve uniformity in testing between seed laboratories.” The development and sharing of new protocols is ongoing. Information regarding some seed test methodologies (germination, seed imaging) is provided. TWS Chair, Gil Waibel, is a past presenter at the Native Seed Stakeholder Meeting.

Propagation Protocol Database

The Native Plant Network hosts this resource and invites you to search for protocols for species of interest and submit protocols for species you have successfully grown.

CRP Signup

It’s that time again! General signup started February 27 and continues through April 7, 2023.

NASEM Report on Native Seed Supply

A committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine released the final report on their study of the national native seed supply chain in January 2023. A free pdf of the report can be downloaded at this link.

An article from Seed World summarizes key findings and recommendations from the NASEM report: New report shares concerns of insufficient native seeds.
