PTSA Scholarships: Introducing our new Perseverance Scholarship in honor of Lori Rowe

Lori Rowe was Eastlake’s beloved Office Manager for many years. She has been a true member of the Wolfpack for decades. As a mother to the Eastlake family and all that came to know her, she was the heart and soul of our Pack. Her involvement in LWSD began back in 1991 when her children started school. Her dedication to the district was exemplified through her devotion during the 16 years as SPED secretary and Office Manager at Eastlake and active involvement in the EHS PTSA.

Lori lent her ear and opened her heart to students that were experiencing struggles and hardship. She was always rooting for them and in their corner as they faced challenges that might have disrupted their educational journey. She took great comfort in seeing the success and perseverance of her students throughout their academic and personal lives. The Rowe Family would like to honor her memory through the Perseverance Scholarship and champion her cause. Lori’s memory will live on through those students with the exceptional qualities embodied through their perseverance and fortitude to overcoming challenges.

Youth Eastside Services (YES) - BOLO For Rainbow Fentanyl

Be on the lookout (BOLO) for rainbow fentanyl as it has been found recently in enormous quantities in Bothell, so please share this information far and wide for preventative measures. This is the first we’re seeing of the all-colored pills (not a solid color each) and the cubes that look like gum or candy.  Fentanyl is an opioid that is 80-100 times stronger than morphine and is being found in many substances including pain pills, vaping and marijuana cartridges.

If you have concerns or questions about substance use including nicotine/vaping, contact our Youth Eastside Services’ prevention intervention counselor Andrea Frost @ andrea.frost@youtheastsideservices.org

Girl Drama: Free Webinar
From EHS PTSA community partner, Teen Wise

In middle and high school, friendship dynamics become more complicated, emotional, and important for your daughter. As a parent, it is difficult to know what to say and do to support your daughter through the ups and downs. Understanding how to support your daughter can empower her to conquer girl drama and understand, create, and foster healthy friendships.
In this webinar, you will learn about the common ways that parents support their daughters and the unintended consequences. You’ll also learn that all your daughter really needs is L.O.V.E.
This webinar is FREE, registration required at https://be.teen-wise.com/girldramalive

ParentWiser Webinar - Understanding Eating Disorders

What do you know about eating disorders? Experts have indicated that eating disorders in teens have exploded since the pandemic. Myths and misconceptions abound about these complex medical and psychiatric illnesses. Not always originating from body dysmorphia, they are linked with high achievement and are a form of coping mechanism for stress, anxiety, and a loss of control over one’s life.

Betsy Malm from the Eating Recovery Center in Bellevue will help you understand causes, how to recognize signs and symptoms, and how parents and counselors can support students who may be struggling. Q&A will include students who can answer questions about their personal experience.
