Fraud Prevention Month targets scammers
|
More than half a billion dollars was reported lost due to fraud last year. And only 5-10% of frauds are reported. We’re turning the tables on fraudsters with investor education activities during Fraud Prevention Month:
- Register for our Fraud Prevention Month Telephone Townhall on March 7 at 7 p.m. We’ll provide information about scams and answer listener questions.
- Join our Twitter chat on March 9 at 1 p.m. We’ll be using the OSC’s investor education account, @smarter_money. Follow the hashtags #FraudChat and #FPM2023.

Enhanced expectations for crypto asset trading platforms

Canadian securities regulators are strengthening oversight of crypto asset trading platforms operating in Canada. The CSA published a notice describing enhanced investor protection commitments it expects from these platforms.
Unregistered crypto asset trading platforms — operating in Canada while pursuing registration with Canadian securities regulators — must provide an enhanced pre-registration undertaking to their principal regulator within 30 days of publication of this notice.
