Artworks Center for Contemporary Art
Join us for the artist talk for Air of the Ancients, March 11th at 2pm

Artists exhibited include Angela Faris Belt, Natascha Seideneck, and Melanie Walker. Air of the Ancients was curated by Hamidah Glasgow in collaboration with the Center for Fine Art Photography.

"The air we breathe is the air of the ancients. Constants of air, dirt, fire, and water have cycled through natural processes for time immemorial. In recent times, two hundred years give or take, humans have invented and introduced previously non-existent materials, nanoparticles, and forever chemicals that have irreparably changed the elements and the environment.

Angela Faris Belt, Natascha Seideneck, and Melanie Walker’s work explore nature and the continuum of what was, is, and most importantly, what will be. We are in an uncertain new era of imbalance that we have created and now struggle to bring back to balance.

While we continue to breathe the air of the ancients, most of us are questioning the future of the planet and ways of life, cycles of nature, and what we knew as constants that are no longer."

2023 donations and proceeds will go to our fall Indigenous exhibition!

This year we are planning an important exhibition and would love your support!

Artworks is working with artist and curator, Danielle SeeWalker to host a Contemporary Indigenous exhibition this fall! In order to make sure we are providing the best experience for our curator, Danielle SeeWalker, the artists, performers, and lecturers, we are asking for donations and sponsorships. These funds will provide participating artists with stipends and cover shipping fees, while your support will help lift the voices and educate the community about Indigenous Artists. We would like to have robust programming surrounding this exhibition including an Indigenous fashion show, a lecture series, Indigenous foods, and artist demos. We have already reached 50% of our goal of $20,000!
