CHRIST THE KING ADDS NEW STAFF:
WELCOME TO JU, CHRIS, AND PATRICK

Lots of good news on the personnel front: Christ the King this week welcomes new staff members Dr. Ju Kim and Patrick Williams to the team and celebrates with Dr. Chris Haire as he expands his role and becomes our new, part-time minister of traditional music.

Patrick lives in Garner and will be CTK’s new, full-time communications specialist. In his new role, he is responsible for video production and editing, including the ever popular “Big 3” announcements during Sunday worship and for managing our social media accounts. He will also produce and edit the church’s print publications, most notably the Weekly News and the quarterly TOGETHER magazine.

Dr. Ju Hyun Kim of Durham is our new, part-time organist. Today is his first Sunday playing at our traditional services. He will also cover Wednesday evening midweek services and accompany the chancel choir. Dr. Kim hails from South Korea, and in his day job is a data scientist with a PhD in Economics.

Dr. Chris Haire, who is coming up on his one-year anniversary as director of the chancel choir, is expanding his role and will serve as the part-time minister of traditional music.

Bold women preach on March 5

Sunday, March 5 is Bold Women's Sunday. Come and hear Pastor Athena and Rachel Geddes preach on Shiphrah and Puah, midwives working for Pharaoh. When they are ordered to kill all baby boys, they refuse the orders of the empire in order to serve God. This story from Exodus is one about fear of God, rebellion against evil forces, and the danger and beauty of birth. By letting a boy named Moses live, the Bold Women in Exodus upset the empire and set in motion a movement from slavery into freedom.

CTK joins 200+ voices for
Choral Presentation at Meymandi Concert Hall

All are invited to hear a preview presentation of our church’s Easter Cantata, God So Loved, on Palm Sunday evening, April 2, at 7pm.  This presentation, by 200+ voices from Triangle area churches, plus an orchestra, will be presented in Meymandi Concert Hall at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. The presentation will also include Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus,” a congregational hymn-sing, and an opening presentation by the ensemble, Degrees of Brass. Tickets will be available in the Atrium on Sunday mornings throughout March after both the 8:30 and 11am services. An offering of at least $15 per ticket is requested to offset costs. Tickets are also available online at www.pepperchoplin.com.

Sexuality Workshop offered Sunday

Christ the King will be offering our annual Sexuality Workshop for fourth and fifth graders and their parent/guardian. On Sunday, we meet in Luther Cafe. Our conversation will focus on the changes youth and their families face as they try to better understand their sexuality and gender identity; encounter the physical and emotional changes of puberty; and discover strategies for communication with their parents. The workshop begins at 12:30pm so plan to eat beforehand.
