'Race Today: Legacies of Resistance' talk by Gary Young, Goldsmiths University, 7pm – 9pm, Friday 3 March 2023

The Darcus Howe Legacy Group are offering 20 free places for school and college students to attend the upcoming Gary Younge Talk ‘Race Today: Legacies of Resistance’. The event will take place in the Ian Gulland Lecture Theatre, in the Whitehead Building on Goldsmiths campus from 7pm – 9pm on Friday 3rd March 2023. Click here to see a map of campus.

Journalist & Broadcaster Gary Younge, partners with the Darcus Howe Legacy Collective to launch the Special Issue of the journal Race Today - published to commemorate the 80th birthday of radical pioneer Darcus Howe. Gary Younge will discuss the current state of protest, examining recent successes and new obstacles to effective grassroots resistance. The event is also the launch of Race Today’s on-line archive – that makes accessible a crucial resource for exploring the recent history of black protest in Britain. As highlighted by the BBC series Small Axe and Uprising, the once unknown history of Britain’s radical Black and Asian political movements of the ‘70s and 80s will now be available online.

Full training will be given with the opportunity to apply after for Saturday work all year round.

Tax School Leavers Programme 

Dixon Wilson are offering the opportunity to kick start a career in personal taxation without the need for a university degree!  As part of their School Leavers Apprenticeship Programme, you will combine work with studying towards professional qualifications. You will start with study towards the ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians), followed by further studies towards CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) the highest-level tax qualification in the UK.  The ATT and CTA qualifications form a four-year Level 4 & 7 apprenticeship programme with Dixon Wilson.

Dixon Wilson will pay all the costs for your professional exams including tuition courses, study manuals, textbooks, and examination fees for the first sitting. During the School Leavers Programme you will receive paid study leave to attend the tuition courses and exams. 

In addition to a competitive starting salary and benefits, you will receive salary increments throughout your training contract upon successful completion of examinations.
