Ridin' SOLO

Early this morning after our second landing, my flight instructor told me to taxi back to the FBO (main airport building) where he proceeded to exit the airplane.  From there I went back to the runway where I took off by myself for the first time!  I entered the pattern and I had what felt like my best landing to date.  Two more take-offs and landings later, I had completed my first solo flight.  It is a great feeling to look back on how many of you helped get me to this first milestone. Many of you have been praying, giving, and encouraging me.  You are the reason I have reached this first milestone and am beyond thankful for you all!  I will need your help as continue my training to reach the mission field!

Once I was on the ground my instructor cut my shirt which is a long-standing tradition after your first solo flight.  The tradition started when there weren’t radios in airplanes and your instructor would tug your shirt tail to get your attention.  Cutting off the shirttail signifies that the student can now fly the airplane and no longer needs the instructor to tug your shirt.  My shirttail had Matthew 9:37-38 printed on the back.  “He said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields’”.  What better motivation than to continue to look forward to the day when I can use my skills as a pilot to help bring the Gospel to new fields!

I have finally moved into the house my roommate and I have been working on!  It feels good to be settled into a place I can call home for a while.  KLife has been a blast, my guys are so fun!  We are going through Romans right now and they have had some great questions and we are learning a lot together.  I had them over last Friday night to watch Gladiator…great movie.  I’m starting to miss you guys more and more as time goes on.  Please let me know how I can be praying for you all!

My prayer request:
-My KLife small group boys
-Continued safety in my flight training
-For the Lord to continue to provide more prayer and financial partners
