Fountain Hills Community Garden
       April 2023 Newsletter

FYI:

There continues to be a lot of progress on the garden reconfiguration. The new garden beds are almost all built. Leveling continues and soon concrete has been poured for our Pavilion shade structure and greenhouse. Our big shed has been relocated to it's new location and our storage yard walls have been built. The 3 gate entrance pillars have been built and fencing post continue to go around the perimeter. :)

It is now time to buy your seeds for summer planting. I've started mine and please understand that some seeds take a long time to be mature enough to transplant. Herbs take even longer to be ready to transplant. Please check out this website www.botanicalinterests.com. There is numerous seed information available on this website. This is one of my favorite websites. It is very important to read the seed packet information on the back. Starting your seeds usually 6-8 weeks prior to transplanting. There are times however, when you will need to divide and transplant into bigger pots until the exact time to plant in your garden beds. Please refer also, to the garden website for what to plant and when for our May/June summer season.

Also, gathering your amendments for your new bed will be very important. Azomite, steer manure, mushroom compost, Amend and Happy Frog vegetable fertilizer are a perfect recipe for success. When your plants have the proper nutrients and water, they will flourish and reward your hard work :):)

INVOICING WILL BE GOING OUT SOON AND YOU MUST RESPOND IN 30 DAYS! Thank you all so much! We have over 79 people waiting to get a garden bed, so please help the process going forward. Thank you in advance again!

GARDENING AT HOME WHILE WE WAIT:

When starting your own seeds you can start just what you need and can have a larger variety of plants. Also, very cost effective. This is a great book for your reading pleasure, to learn while we wait. :)

We will be updating everyone as we progress forward, utilizing our Newsletter and Facebook garden page.  Our timing for starting to plant again in June, will depend greatly on materials availability and our Contractor. PLEASE STAY TUNED!
