Dear friends / Queridos Amigos
(mais informação em Portuguese em baixo)
Hope this newsletter finds you well
Since the beginning of this year
I often find myself in tears as I wake up reading the world news.
So many children suffering, losing their homes, surrounded by violence.
That was something that always escaped my common sense,
why do children have to suffer because of the mistakes and aggression of adults?
The world is with no doubt gone tipsy turvy
Have we forgotten the beauty of it all?
Have we forgotten the smell of a rose?
the magical light at dawn?
the warmth of a hug?
the miracle of nature?
WHY?
So I try to look at the small things,
remember that it is all just a ride
that we are here for a visit
that we are here to experience and share
Love and create

created and performed in collaboration with Silvia Mercuriali
with Illustrations by Izhar Cohen, costumes by Lucy Bradridge, props by Tim Harbridge, and more...
Conceptually ingenious, this interactive show is part competition, part comedy, and part learning experience in multiple senses... The transition to an online show is cleanly achieved, building a sense of community among theparticipants who are clearly instructed how to play.
★★★★TheReviewsHub
Bingo! is a wild reimagining of the familiar game. Karavan and Mercuriali are extremely likable, and juggle the unpredictability of an interactive audience with impressive spontaneity... It’s a nudge to let ourselves off the hook, but remember our rights.
★★★★TheUpComing
It’s all weaved together cleverly, and delivered with great gusto by our two energetic performers, who hold the space admirably – with disco-dancing and clever quipping a plenty. Jolly good fun, and educational to boot! Total Theatre - Dorothy Max Prior
Audience feedback
It was fun. Great energy. Sense of humour. Creative and lots of talent. Wonderful illustrations. We had a great time, learning while laughing, thinking while playing.
Thank you, Yael and Silvia. This was my best zoom experience!

HOMENAGEM is a theatre-dance show that brings to the stage the theme of the extinction of species, flora and fauna, whose absence will have silent but harsh repercussions on the life of our planet; emerging from the fine line between the tragic and the comic, it brings to the surface the contradictions of human behaviour and life on our planet earth.

FROM IN-BETWEEN SOLO BY YAEL KARAVAN
Workshop/ Oficina bi-lingual
de BUTOH
6 e 7 de Marco 11-17h
no Palacio Pancas Palha (compania Olga Roriz), Lisboa
"We should live in the present. We should do what we have to do now and not keep putting it on the long finger as the majority of adults do. That is why they exhaust themselves. For children, there is only the present. They are not afraid. Fear envelops us in a fine mesh. We must remove this mesh."
TATSUMI HIJIKATA founder of Ankoku Butoh
======================================
The main elements that will be explored in the workshop are metamorphoses, dance through imagery, presence, awareness, and the tension between opposites. The aim is to free the body from its mundane preconceived set of gestures and movements and thus allowing us to access a deeper and more authentic essence of movement and archetypal expression. Questioning how Butoh can be translated into a European Body and why is Butoh not just relevant but extremely vital nowadays.
Yael Karavan has more than 25 years of experience in Butoh, during which he had the opportunity to work with the founders of Butoh in Japan: Kazuo Ohno and Motofuji San – wife of Tatsumi Hijikata – as well as with Tadashi Endo and the MAMU dance theatre, Yumiko Yoshioka and Ten-Pen-Chi, Sankai Juku, Atsushi Takenuchi, Minako Seki, Carlota Ikeda, Yuko Kawamoto, Akira Kasai, Natsu Nakajuma among others.

Created in collaboration with Vincent Ordonenz
PRESS HERE TO SEE IT WITH YOUR OWN EYES!
Dear friends of the world, in the face of the current state of our world we feel the need to break the silence and take action for our planet. Waiting for authorities to take act upon these urgent matters is a waste of time and we need to unite in the face of this crises in order to imagine a better future. Protecting our environment and ourselves is of most importance and must be done now before it’s too late. As part of this wondrous nature we must have more empathy and collaborate. We invite you to join our Empathic Action towards our one and only Home- Planet Earth, by adding in your Art and Heart. Please email us to if you'd like to be part of our project and add your work to it.
