Now that Chevron has been found guilty once again for intentionally dumping a massive amount of toxic oil waste in the Ecuadorian Amazon, the company has become particularly desperate to explain why it refuses to take responsibility. Chevron's attempts to greenwash its image have gone into overdrive, spinning and twisting the facts beyond recognition. Which is why we've taken on the task of helping Chevron's spokespeople give a bit more shameless oomph to their absurd excuses for why their company puts profits over people.
Since we put out the call for your creative spoofs last week, we've received thousands of submissions for over-the-top excuses that Chevron can use. But we're sure there are plenty more where those came from.
We've teamed up with our friends at Rainforest Action Network to compile some of the most ridiculous excuses Chevron has made over the years in this video, to give you a little inspiration. These are truly some of the stupidest moments in Chevron PR:
As you can see, even Chevron's PR hacks have struggled to come up with valid excuses for why they refuse to do the right thing in Ecuador.
