Planning

The LRA is actively involved in proposals for high-rises around Bayview and Eglinton, including one atop Leaside Station, pictured above. This month, there are (so far) three important community consultation meetings – all virtual. They include: 1779-1787 Bayview (35 storeys above Leaside station), 589-595 Eglinton Ave E (35 storeys), 2-20 Glazebrook (34 storeys), and 1840 Bayview (34 storeys).

If you have views on these proposals, please attend the meeting(s) below and express yourself. The LRA believes that a framework plan for these developments is urgently needed.

Site-specific Community Meetings

Wednesday, March 1, 6 - 8 p.m. (virtual)

  • 6 - 7 p.m. Discussion of 1779-1787 Bayview Avenue (SE corner of Bayview & Eglinton, including demolition of several quadplexes - pictured above), an application that proposes a 35-storey mixed-use building, containing a total of 373 dwelling units and 541 square metres of retail use. The development is proposed to have a total gross floor area of 27,846 square metres, resulting in a density of 8.83 times the area of the lot.
NOTE: The application includes both the Leaside station site AND the two four-unit apartment houses (quadraplexes or quads) at 1783-85 and 1779-81 Bayview. While the northernmost quad at 1783-85 Bayview is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, 1779-81 Bayview is not. And without designation of 1779-81 Bayview the remaining quads may be in jeopardy.
  • 7 - 8 p.m. Discussion of 589-595 Eglinton Avenue East and 61-67 Mann Avenue, an application that proposes a 35-storey mixed-use building, containing a total of 389 residential units and 60 square metres of retail use. The proposed development has a total gross floor area of 26,598 m2, resulting in a density of 13.42 times the area of the lot.

Tuesday, March 7, 6 - 8 p.m. (virtual)

  • Discussion of 1840 Bayview (Esso station). The City of Toronto Planning Division has received an application to amend the City of Toronto Zoning By-law. The application at 1840 Bayview Avenue proposes a 34-storey mixed-use building with 377 units and 202 square metres of ground floor retail fronting onto Bayview Avenue. The development would have a total gross floor area of 24,305 square metres with a density of 14.75 times the size of the lot.

Thursday, March 9, 6 - 8 p.m. (virtual)

  • Discussion of 2-20 Glazebrook. The City of Toronto Planning Division has received an application to amend the City of Toronto Zoning By-law. The application at 2-20 Glazebrook Avenue proposes a 34-storey residential and commercial mixed-use building. There are 434 residential units proposed with 314 square metres of retail. The total gross floor area of the project is 29,600 square metres with a density of 13.78 times the area of the lot.
You must register for these community consultation meetings. To register, please go to the City Planning Consultation page, locate the address of the project, and click on the "Register" link. Unfortunately, providing direct links to the City Webex registration is not possible due to the fact that links are dynamic, not permanent, and expire in 15 minutes. More information for each project can be obtained by clicking on the address of the project in the consultation list.
