ART TIP -
How Do You Know a HIT?

How do you know when something is a hit?
Well if it's a hit, you'll know it the instant you see it, or hear it, or taste it.  Whether it is art, or music, a movie or food, a hit happens when all its elements have come together in a magical way.

Why is it called a hit? Cause when you find a hit, it goes "Boom!" and Hits you.

Think of some of your favorite hits?
Why is it a hit? That is some valuable food for thought.
Howabout this thought:
What makes a hit stop being a hit?

Have you ever gone to a concert waiting to hear your favorite hit song, but the band is tired of playing it so many times that they want to change it a little?
How did you like that?

Many times famous bands like to add variation to their songs because they are tired of playing it the same old way, not realizing that the audience loves it because one: It’s a Hit (That means magic from God happened when that song was created) and two: It’s a Familiar Hit. Folks like the way they remember it.

I had a similar experience with an art piece that I consider a hit. Hidden Valley. A large company wanted to use it for a label for their water company, but, they wanted to remove a key element, the birds. My heart sank as I knew they would remove a key element that made it a hit.

The folks that successfully create hits engage a part of the audience’s  mind that really understands what is important. They are familiar with what is effective and pray for another hit.

Some of the things that I feel are hits include the little painting above by Patrice Pendarvis, (it stopped me in my tracks), the new Polynesian Voyaging Society license plate, and Tabasco.

Write me back and tell me some of Your Favorite Hits.
I'll share them in our next newsletter.
