Lead Mitigation in Schools and Child Care Centres Grant Program

We are pleased to announce that theLead Mitigation in Schools and Child Care Centres Grant Programhas been extended toMarch 31, 2024. This extension will continue to provide schools and child care centres across Manitoba with access to funding for lead testing of drinking water and remediation if needed.

MEIA Attends Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival in the Pas

MEIA joined the Norther Manitoba Trappers Festival in the Pas from February 15th to 19th. We were excited to connect with Northern Communities while promoting our Registered Energy Advisor Program.

MEIA Energy Advisor Industry Gathering

Manitoba’s environmental community gathered at RRC Polytech Exchange District campus, Manitou a bi Bii daziigae, to celebrate  Energy Efficiency programming in Manitoba and the Registered Energy Advisor course.

Service Organizations, potential future students, current students, and recent graduates were present along with program stakeholders including MEIA,Red River College Polytechnic, prairieHOUSE Performance Inc., Sustainable Building Manitoba, Efficiency Manitoba, Manitoba Construction Sector Council, and DLF Consulting.

Flexible Leadership Course

Sometimes leaders can feel that, instead of doing the work they love, they are spending their days managing and solving problems for others. In management, one size never fits all. This course helps participants learn to adjust and “flex” their leadership style to read and successfully manage individuals in the way they would best respond to.

In partnership with the University of Manitoba

This course provides hands on field instruction in soil sampling and drill rig safety. Participants should expect to gain practical experience in aspects of environmental soil, water, and air sampling. There will also be an overview of provincial and federal regulations as they pertain to environmental site assessments; and a discussion on laboratory analysis of parameters commonly considered in Manitoba.


Students and MEIA Student Chapter Members – please register by contacting MEIA at (204) 306-3121.

Students taking this course for credit hours must also register through the University of Manitoba under the coordination of Mark Hanson, Dept. of Environment and Geography. Take Soil Sampling and the Potable Water and Groundwater Sampling course for 1.5 credit hours (ENVR 2010) –students must register through the University of Manitoba as well as through MEIA to obtain credit hours.Regular tuition and fees will apply in addition to the MEIA fees.


Registrants for this event are eligible to claim 3 PD credits towards maintaining their EP designation with ECO Canada.

In partnership with the University of Manitoba

This course is designed provide students with an understanding of typical groundwater impacts focusing on the differences between light and dense non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL and DNAPL). The course will include the theory behind groundwater well installation, groundwater development, and purging and sampling including groundwater well volume and recharge related calculations. Students will assist with development, purging and sampling of an on-site groundwater well and will collect potable water samples from on-site. Supplies: Students require a calculator and must be dressed appropriately for the weather.

University of Manitoba Sustainability Night

Thank you to the Office of Sustainability for organizing the excellent Sustainability Night at the University of Manitoba on March 8. The evening included a“speed-dating" portion where participants moved from station to station to learn about student groups and organizations who are working in the field of sustainability. Following this portion, participants sat down for a panel discussion on the SDG5, gender equality and empowering all women and girls.The evening was capped off with a wine and cheese networking event. MEIA Student Chapter Chair Anika Hatherly and Vice Chair Lindsey Solmundson presented in front of the crowd talking to students about MEIA, future careers in the industry and the many benefits of student membership.

Virtual Speed Mentoring Night

Cypher Environmental Charity Golf Tournament

Cypher Environmental will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the tournament fundraiser toWildlife Haven, a volunteer-driven charity that relies on generous donations to rehabilitate injured, sick and orphaned wildlife for their return to the wild.
