How much do you know about our Scholarship Program?

We strive to create an environment in which the arts and arts education is accessible to all. As we affirm in our values statement, we envision a community in which no one misses out. Headwaters Scholarship Program aims to remove barriers for youth programming and make our offerings accessible to all. We wanted to tell you a little about this initiative that is so near and dear to our hearts:

💗 Did you know we have 4 options for youth scholarships? 2 of them can be used for our youth group programming and 3 of them can be put towards our one-on-one music lessons.

💙 In the last few years everyone who applied and qualified for one of our financial need based scholarships received some amount of funding.

💛 Families who qualify can receive anywhere between 50% to 100% off their fee either through:
  • Minnesota Afterschool Advance and the tax credit loan program which can cover up to 75% of fees and thanks to our funders we are able to commit to cover the final 25% of that fee.
  • or families can apply for up to 50% off via MusicLink Foundation or our Headwaters Arts Scholarship.
💗 On our website we have a FAQ page and a page outlining all of the scholarship info.

💙 Headwaters Scholarship Program is only possible because of YOUR support! Our annual scholarship budget is supported by grants, business and individual contributors, and fundraising events and initiatives. You can become a sustaining member today.

💛 You are also invited to our biggest fundraising event of the year! Monroe Crossing at the Historic Chief theater on April 22. You can become a business sponsor and ensure our success in raising funds for Headwaters Scholarship Program.

Headwaters Open Mic and CoffeeHouse is scheduled for on March 3 at 7pm (sign up begins at 6:30pm). The monthly community gathering offers a friendly open mic opportunity and welcoming environment for folks to listen and perform at Headwaters, March's featured performer is Antonio Arce.

Antonio moved to Northern Minnesota about three and a half years ago with his wife and their seven rescued shih tzus. Antonio learned to play guitar when he was 11 years old from his father. The oldest son of a professional musician, they always had guitars at home. He remembers his father’s performances in Salta, Argentina, the city where Antonio was born. Read more here.

Held on the first Friday of most months, the Headwaters Open Mic offers a welcoming and supportive community for musicians and spoken-word performers. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to sign up for a 10 to 15 minute set. Admission is $3 per person or $7 for families.
