Five-year deal secured for popular festival event

For the next five years, our region’s biggest music and food event will partner with one of our region’s flagship family-owned businesses.

The signing of the naming rights sponsorship agreement for the Wisely Wine and Food Day will ensure the event is able to continue to grow and support local talent while also remaining free to the public.

Wisely Group may be an industrial asset management powerhouse operating across Australia, but their local community roots run deep, and they have a genuine passion for promoting our region.

Residents are encouraged to mark Saturday, July 15, in their calendar for this year’s Wisely Wine and Food Day.

Applications for performers for the event are currently open and can be found on themecc.com.au/festivals

Register for eNotices for a chance to WIN

Residents are being encouraged to register for eNotices to save time and the environment.

As an incentive to go paper-free with council notices, $1500 in Porters Mitre 10 gift cards are up for grabs as part of the campaign.

Mayor Greg Williamson said there were massive benefits for residents who sign up for eNotices.

“One of the great things about the online portal is it is always open, so you can view or pay current and historical notices any time online,” Mayor Williamson said.

New exhibitions on display at Artspace Mackay

The Main Gallery of Artspace Mackay is currently showcasing one of Queensland’s most successful contemporary painters, Davida Allen.

The exhibition, entitled Davida Allen: Colourful Expressions, has been completely curated by the Artspace Mackay team.

Artspace director Tracey Heathwood said Allen received one of Australia’s best-known accolades in 1986 when she won the Archibald Prize.

“In this show some of Allen’s most intimate portraits are displayed, including Josephine, a portrait of the artist’s daughter,” Ms Heathwood said.
