We had a busy week, including our Cooper Café and discussion about family engagement on Monday. I hope you've had a beautifully relaxing four-day weekend. If my own days have been any indication this was very much needed time to relax, rejuvenate and reset, as we enter the final weeks leading to our upcoming Spring Break.
This will be a busy time as we wind down Quarter 3 - but still time to help students help themselves, as we aim for each of them to have the strongest finish possible to our first year at Cooper.
One way that we aim to do this is through the principles of The Latin Way. Throughout this year, we have referenced these principles to communicate about building character and fostering community. We believe the same principles can be used to strengthen students' academic grit, essential for pushing through the work and challenges of their education.
We encourage students to seek the conversation in class to build their active participation. We assure them that learning is a journey and that, in order to see the positive impact, they must courageously and consistently trust the process. We believe that each and every single one of our students has the capability to learn about and fall in love enduring ideas. We want to help them understand that making the right academic choices now will allow them the freedom in the future to make bigger decisions that ultimately empower them toserve the common good.
Wishing you a good (short) week!
Sincerely,
Khashiffa Roberts
Principal
Did you miss it? Cooper Cafe - Virtual Family Meeting
This MAGIS class is a place for students to sit and knit or crochet while enjoying the relaxing company of fellow fiber artists. Don't know how to knit or crochet? You can learn from other students and the facilitator. Already know how to knit and crochet? Make progress on your projects during this low-key hour of fiber art fun. The class will begin with an orientation to the craft and will offer project ideas. While there will be communal supplies to get you started, students are encouraged to obtain their own so as to personalize their projects.
The Circle meets Thursdays, 3:45 to 4:45 with Ms. Cox.
