DUMP ALERT! It is coming down in Truckee-Tahoe, and it’s the good stuff: cold, light snow that makes for insta-worthy faceshots and hero tales of the “best pow day ever”. After this storm cycle winds down on Saturday, another big one begins on Sunday. Midweek will be the time to score seriously deep, uncrowded turns. Perhaps the best of the season!

Big Winter Storms: What You Need to Know

With big snow in the 10-day forecast, be prepared for winter conditions. Carry chains and supplies (shovel, food, water, blankets, etc.), keep your phone charged and gas tank full, and take it slow. Before you leave, check the following: Remember, there is a LOT of winter fun to come! Central Sierra Snow Lab reports 405" of snow to date - that's over 33 FEET!!! So start planning a spring ski/ride trip under warm, sunny skies. Book Truckee lodging while rates and availability are good, and if it's a midweek stay, we'll give you a free $100 gift card!

Friday-Sunday, Feb. 24-26th

The world’s top male ski racers are headed to Truckee-Tahoe this weekend for The Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup! The host of the 1960s Winter Olympics, Palisades Tahoe is no stranger to international competition and is one of only four U.S. resorts featured on the Audi FIS Ski World Cup circuit. This weekend, they’ll host men’s slalom and giant slalom events on Dog Leg and Red Dog Face. Get ready for the action and a busy weekend with these two guides.

  1. STREAMING: Outside+ is the streaming broadcaster of the domestic World Cups. Watch the event LIVE through OutsideOnline.com, SkiMag.com, Outside App and OutsideTV.

Hot on the heels of the World Cup, the Futures Tour hosted by USASA will come to Northstar California Resort on Feb. 27th - March 3rd. A premiere freeski and snowboard competition, Futures Tour is a stepping stone to the Rev Tour/Nor-am, World Cup, X Games, and Olympic qualification. 

The Futures Tour was awarded Sustainable Truckee sponsorship to help encourage winter athletes to support sustainability in Truckee and beyond. Check out the Sustainable Truckee Best Practices for Winter Athletes and look for the Sustainable Truckee tent at Northstar next week on the slopes.
