How do you give your home a touch of French Chic?

Dear de Sede aficionados,

do you sometimes wish you could leave your everyday life behind for a while so you can gain new inspiration elsewhere? If so, we would like to invite you on a trip to Paris – the capital of nonchalant chic – and show you how you can recreate the style inside your own four walls.
French Chic just like that
Cyrus Viseux and Pierre Jones are two creative thinkers who have mastered how to inject the Paris attitude to life into inspiring interior designs. Under the name Viseux & Jones, the interior design duo renovates and decorates spacious private homes. They have both also made a name for themselves as furniture designers. With a pronounced love for craftsmanship and authentic materials, they create spaces full of emotion and reveal their tips on how you can add a touch of French flair within your own four walls.

1. The sofa should be seen as the beating heart of the room
“The sofa is the most important element of your interior furnishings; it’s the beating heart of the room. Then the coffee table and armchair should be chosen according to their shape, proportions and colour.”

2. Triggering emotions and taking individual lifestyles into account
“The aim of our work is to appeal to the emotions that we awaken in our customers and the lifestyle that they lead. For example, we recommended a DS-600 from de Sede to a family with four children who all want to sit around the coffee table in the lounge – which perfectly complemented their lifestyle.”

3. Top planning tips
“If we had to give three tips, the first one would be to trust yourself when choosing individual pieces that break the norm; the second is to carefully select your materials and colours to find the right harmony; and lastly you should work with symmetry and contrast.”

Spot on: the DS-600 at the Paris Fashion Week
Of course, when talking about the legendary French Chic, we mustn’t forget fashion. Global trends have been set in the city of love since time immemorial and Fashion Week is one such example.

At Yves Saint Laurent’s show in the former commodity exchange, the Bourse de Commerce, the 100 hand-picked guests were greeted by a golden oldie of international design: the curvy DS-600. The iconic 1970s design enhanced the special atmosphere at the show and inspired guests to have their photo taken together with the sofa − a stylish symbiosis of design and fashion.
The «Tatzelwurm» turns 50 years: the party isn`t over yet!
On the “Tatzelwurm’s” big anniversary, we asked the experts what makes the DS-600 so unique. Not only has it been extremely popular among experts for half a century: the birthday wishes also show how deeply rooted the non-stop sofa is in the memory of the design world!

"50 years - the beloved DS-600 and I were born in the same year and are celebrating half of a century together. My parents tell me that I had my nappy changed on it and made mountains of its cushions to climb over. I`ve laughted, cried ad drunk the odd glass of wine in its presence. I have slowly dozed off in its lap time and have had many fleeting and deep conversations in its care. The DS-600 has been a very loyal companion for 50 years. Happy birthday! See you in the future, dear Tatzelwurm!"
