The Contact Sheet / February 26, 2023

Dodging & burning just got so much easier.

I love the masking tool in Lightroom Classic and it has seen some changes over the last few iterations, some of them pretty significant. I was asked recently about this and it seemed like something you might be interested in if you're a Lightroom user. If you do any dodging and burning at all, the new AI functions are game changers, and they're super easy. In fact, they're so easy it might convince some of you to do a little more work with local adjustments to draw the eye to what's important in the frame.

The easiest way to show you this is with video so I've put together a 20-minute tutorial for you. You can watch that on my blog by clicking on this text or on the image below.

I hope this is helpful to you. I'm not launching a course or anything, and there's nothing to purchase, just some helpful stuff for those of you that use Lightroom. And in 2 weeks I'll have another one for you.

If you've got questions that I can take a shot at answering, please leave them in the comments on the blog rather than sending me an email - that way everyone gets to benefit from the questions and my replies.

For the Love of the Photograph,
David
