Please do not leave any books at the shed at the West Tisbury School or at the West Tisbury Library. All of our Storage is FULL!

 
MEETING ROOMS

Private meeting rooms can be booked for 45 minutes beginning at the top of the hour, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a reservation. Reservations must be made online here.
LEARNING LAB
•••   Teens and kids ages 12+ are invited to the Young Adult Room after school for Learning Lab. Learning Lab is open Mondays-Fridays from 3-5pm. Email Young Adult Librarian Laura Hearn with any questions: lhearn@clamsnet.org.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1st, at 7:30 AM: CHAIR YOGA AND MEDITATION CLASS (online via Zoom)
•••    All levels and ages are invited to chair yoga and meditation led by Jason Mazar-Kelly (YogiJay) on Wednesdays. In this class, participants will be guided through seated and moving meditations utilizing the support and assistance of a chair. All you will need for this class is an armless chair and a place to put it. Please click here to sign up.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1st  at  10:30 AM: TRADITIONAL STORYTIME (in-person)
•••   Children’s librarian Mikaela will be hosting a weekly in-person storytime. Families are invited to come listen to and enjoy books, both new and old, with some songs thrown in the mix. This storytime is designed for toddlers and young kids, but all ages are welcome! No sign up required.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1, from 11 AM - 1 PM: DIGITAL NAVIGATION ASSISTANCE (in-person, by appointment)
•••   Digital Navigation Technology Assistance is available by appointment Wednesdays from 11am-1pm. Do you need help navigating the internet, using a smartphone or tablet, or other technology questions? Email rrooney@clamsnet.org to set up an appointment. Appointments are limited to 20 minutes, once a week. 
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1st, at 11:30-1:00, SOUP AND BREAD LUNCH (in-person)
•••   Come to the West Tisbury Library during the February school break for free soup and bread lunch! Lunch for all will be served every weekday; February 27th, 28th, and March 1st, 2nd and 3rd from 11:30am-1pm. Soup is provided thanks to the West Tisbury Library Foundation, Friends of the Library, and Chef Gus and Morning Glory Farm. All ages are welcome. 
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1 , at 3 PM: VIRTUAL REALITY FOR TWEENS & TEENS (in-person)
•••   Join us Wednesdays from 3-5 pm for VR in the Young Adult Room. The library’s Oculus VR will be set up for 10-15 minute of use per person with age appropriate games. This program is for ages 10-18. Please sign-up once you arrive.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1st, at 4:30: POETRY DROP-IN WITH DONALD  NITCHIE (ON-LINE VIA ZOOM)
•••   Join us on Zoom for “Poetry Drop-In” led by Island poet, Donald Nitchie! These free workshops are hosted by the West Tisbury Library and will be held on alternating Wednesdays, from February 1 until March 29th, at 4:30pm. In this class, participants will look at and discuss several classic or contemporary poems (which will be emailed beforehand), and then be given a writing exercise based on each poem. At the end, writers will be encouraged to read their writing, but it is not required. Please email wt_mail@clamsnet.org to receive a Zoom link.

THURSDAY, March 2cd, at 11:30 AM: WINTER WELLNESS CLASS (online via Zoom)
•••    Join Shanta Gabriel's new weekly class, "Winter Wellness: Brighten Up the Darkest Season." Learn easy techniques to feel more ease and equanimity during unstable times, new ideas and opportunities for life, and strengthen intuition and connection to the inner self. THURSDAY, MARCH 2cd, at 2:30, PONY TIME at MISTY MEADOWS (in person)
•••   Come join us and Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center for Pony Time at 2:30! We will start by reading a story, learning about horses, and then meet the horses of Misty Meadows.
This event is free and open to the public. Event to take place AT Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center. This program is recommended for 3+, but all ages are welcome!
FRIDAY, MARCH 3rd, at 7:30 AM: YOGA CLASS WITH JASON MAZAR-KELLY (online via Zoom)
•••    Join our weekly all-levels Kripalu Flow Yoga led by Jason Mazar-Kelly (Yogijay). Classes focus on soothing the nervous system through a combination of movement, breathwork, and meditation. This class is accessible to all levels and is a fun way to wake up while starting the day with a sense of peace in these times of uncertainty.

FRIDAY, MARCH 3rd, at 11:30 AM: VIRTUAL BALANCE CLASS (online via Zoom)
•••    Kanta Lipsky will continue her virtual Balance Classes on Mondays and Fridays at 11:30 AM. In this class, we will explore ways to strengthen our connection to the earth and increase our bodies’ ability to maintain good balance. SATURDAY, MARCH 4th, from 10:30 AM - 3 PM: FAMILY CRAFT TABLE (in-person)
•••   Drop by on Saturdays for family crafts in the Children's Room. These weekly crafts will be available from 10:30am-3pm (or until supplies run out). No sign up required.
SATURDAY, MARCH 4th, at 10:30 AM:  ADULT COMMUNITY DANCE CLASS (in-person)
•••    Join Jesse Keller Jason's in-person dance class on Saturdays from 10:30-11:30am. Each class includes a guided warm-up, upbeat movement sequences, and space for the dancers’ own creativity. All levels are welcome! No sign up needed to attend.
SATURDAY, MARCH 4TH at 10:30 AM: MOVING STORIES (in person)
•••    On Saturday March 4th at 10:30am, bring the story to life in an untraditional storytime, with Claire Page, where we dance between the lines. Listen, imagine, create, and move! Class will begin with a creative dance warmup, preparing our bodies and imaginations. We will read a book together, collect our observations, play a game or two, before finally creating a dance together based on our findings. Wear comfortable clothes and bring your curiosity! 
SATURDAY, MARCH 4TH at 12:00 PM: CHAIN REACTION(in person)
•••    Kids and families are invited to join Hugh Phear at the West Tisbury Library to build a Rube Goldbergesque-contraption. All ages are welcome to come try their hand at building an inspired device that performs a simple task in a creative and convoluted way. With limited time, materials, and space, participants will be challenged to innovate in this fun and facilitated activity.
SATURDAY, MARCH 4TH at 4:00 PM: MUSIC STREET CONCERT: “Jubilation: Unique Voices” (in person)
•••    The West Tisbury Library will host a live, in-person concert featuring Music Street musicians. This concert will feature pianist Diane Katzenberg Braun, cellist Alan Toda-Ambaras, and violinist Sophia Szokolay. For their March concert, Music Street’s March 2023 concert highlights unique compositions with a flair for jubilant intensity, both introverted and exciting. Boston’s New England Conservatory musicians come together for solos, duos and trios in a joyous program which includes esteemed past and present female composers along with composers having Russian and Ukrainian roots.
This event is free, open to the public, and is made possible by the generous support of Jane Coakley and Max Skjöldebrand, the Procter Smith Family, the West Tisbury Library Foundation, and the Friends of the West Tisbury Library.
SUNDAY, MARCH 5th, at 2:00 PM: ART RECEPTION TAKING SHAPE IN S PA C E: (in-person)
•••   The paintings of Fan Ogilvie, along with images created by fellow artist Paige Taylor, will be on display in the Community Room of the West Tisbury Library for the month of March. Both artists create work that use materials in innovative ways, and both relish the self-expression available through two-dimensional art.
MONDAY, MARCH 6th,  at 3:00-5:00 PM: SWITCH GAMES IN THE YA ROOM
On Mondays from 3-5pm, join us for Switch Games in the Young Adults Room. This program is for ages 8+. Free and open the public!
 
MONDAY, MARCH 6th,  at 3:30-5:00, MICROSCOPE MONDAYS (in person)
Come learn how to use the microscope with naturalist Elliott Bennett and explore the microscopic world. March will be an exploration of human body cells. West Tisbury Library will supply the microscope, all you have to bring is your curiosity.  ( if you have a microscope you can bring it if you like!) This is an intergenerational offering All ages welcome. 
 
TUESDAY, MARCH 7th, at 5 PM: KNITTING GROUP (in-person)
•••   All are welcome to join the library’s Knitting Group on Tuesdays at 5pm. Join librarian Lyn for a relaxing hour of creativity and conversation. Help yourself to supplies provided by the library or bring your own supplies from home or another project you are working on. This group is open to adults and teens, and all levels are welcome. No sign up is required.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8th, 4:30 PM: THE CRAFT OF POETRY (ON-LINE via ZOOM)
•••    West Tisbury Poet Laureate Tain Leonard-Peck will lead a series of poetry writing workshops on alternating Wednesdays. This workshop focuses on building the fundamentals of crafting poetry, through analyzing original pieces submitted by workshop participants. Bring a poem you’ve previously written or try your hand at a new prompt. Prompts and themes will be provided to spark your creativity. Come explore poetry in an inclusive, welcoming environment! FRIDAY, MARCH 10th, at 10:30 AM: MUSIC CLASS FOR CHILDREN (in-person)

SUNDAY, MARCH 12th, at 2:30-3:30 PM: SECOND SUNDAY JAZZ (in person)
•••  The public is invited to a live, in-person jazz concert at the West Tisbury Library. The performance will feature the Eric Johnson trio with Brooke Sofferman on drums and Sean Farias on acoustic bass.

MONDAY, MARCH 13th, at 6:30-7:30 PM : WRITERS READ (on line via Zoom)
•••   The West Tisbury Library will host its monthly “Writers Read” evening online through Zoom. This event, led by Niki Patton, features community members reading short original prose pieces. Both fiction and nonfiction readings are welcome. Each reader is allotted eight minutes to read. Critique to follow reading is optional. Free and open to the public. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15th, 10:30-11:30 AM: THE HEART OF SELF CARE (on line via Zoom)
•••   Can you imagine having the skills to prioritize your own well-being? Would you like support to cultivate sustainable self-care? Would you enjoy group discussions for sharing ideas and encouragement?
Linda Tumbarello, Psychotherapist and Bodywork Therapist for over 35 years and author will lead a four-part workshop based on her book: The Heart of Self-Care: A Woman’s Guide to Joyful Living and Well-Being Join us and learn effective and easy self-care tools to live more joyfully, manage stress and increase your well-being. 
THURSDAY, MARCH 16th, at 6:30 PM: POSITIVE SEXUALITY (in person)
•••  The West Tisbury Library is hosting a  meetup for caregivers of teens and tweens. The roundtable discussion  is intended to be an information session for caregivers, a safe place for discussion and questions about sexuality, puberty, relationships, consent and so much more….
This will be the first in a series of meetups for caregivers and/or teens & tweens.

 
SUNDAY, MARCH 26th, at 1:30PM: "THE SACRED DEPTHS OF NATURE" (in person)
•••  In her new book The Sacred Depths of Nature: How Life Emerged and Evolved, biologist Ursula Goodenough uses prose, poetry, and musical metaphors to describe our science-based understandings of the natural world and its creatures, and offers non-theistic spiritual responses that celebrate these understandings. At this event, readings of selected passages from the book will be interspersed with performances by soprano Jessica Sanseverino and pianist Charles Rus who will offer sonatas by Mozart and chants by Hildegard de Bingen, a nature-infused nun from 12th century Germany.

BRAINFUSE
•••    The Martha’s Vineyard Library Association has partnered with Brainfuse, a national online education company, to provide free online tutoring and homework help to all Martha's Vineyard library cardholders.
