JUST RELEASED: GENDER & YOUTH JUSTICE RESOURCES

The YJI has just launched its new site for resources on Gender & Youth Justice featuring a Gender Terminology Flipbook and a Factsheet of LGBTQIA+ Youth Mental Health & Suicide! This compilation of resources offers youth, state partners, and community justice partners a curated and living array of relevant national, New York State, and YJI-developed resources on gender equity in youth justice involvement. The selected tools (including guides, toolkits, webinars, podcasts, scholarly works, and more) are meant to provide concrete supports that empower, instruct, motivate, and inspire all of us as we further the urgent work of eliminating gender identity and sexual orientation disparities in youth justice systems. The gender microsite is so named because differential treatment based on sex, sexual orientation, or gender expression all flow from the perceived gender of the individual and individuals themselves base their understanding of their own sexual orientation on their gender identity. Check out the site below!

ICYMI: LUNCH & LEARN WEBINAR WITH DR. CATHERINE KIMBRELL

Her presentation titled "Restorative Justice Programs and Practices in Juvenile Justice: The Research Evidence" discussed the results from the most current systematic review on the effectiveness of restorative justice programs and practices in juvenile justice, focusing on delinquency and non-delinquency outcomes.

Check out the YJI's updated Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (EBPs) in Youth Justice Clearinghouse! This user-friendly resource is designed to support jurisdictions seeking evidence-informed youth and family-focused programs and practices. Each of the 53 entries are categorized according to:
  • Setting (e.g., Clinical Settings, Communities)

  • Support Area (e.g., Academic and Career Goals, Mental Health)
