April 2023 Welcome to the Greater Syracuse Land Bank eNews! Inside you'll find news, featured properties and the most recent dashboard of Land Bank projects to date.
With the warmer temperatures, many homeowners begin home maintenance projects like painting. Before scraping and power washing, homeowners should be aware of lead paint hazards. Chances are homes built before 1978 used paint containing lead. Lead is a highly toxic metal that may cause a range of health problems, especially in young children. The City of Syracuse has programs and grants available to help homeowners, renters, and landlords to abate and contain lead hazards in homes. Click here or visit syr.gov/Home for more details.

Renovation Spotlight 2332 Midland Ave
This home was sold to From Point A to Point B Auto’s, LLC, who planned to renovate and resell to an owner-occupant. After starting renovations, Barry Steward of From Point A to Point B Auto’s, LLC decided to make the home his primary residence. Renovating a vacant house is a homebuyer's opportunity to make it their own! With over 20 years of experience in carpentry, he completed most of the renovation work himself. Mr. Steward updated using higher-end finishes such as hardwood floors, a double sink vanity, a LED backlit mirror, and a soaking shower in the bathroom. The home has a new roof, siding, and windows and is one of several homes on the Midland Ave corridor that have or are currently undergoing renovation. Since this home was listed in our Home Ownership Choice Program, Mr. Steward will be required to owner-occupy the residence for a minimum of five years.
