Are we in Winter or Spring?

Here in Utah, it's definitely still winter. We find ourselves in winter storm warning situations, even as recently as 1 week ago. Overall, we have received over 50 FEET of snow! With massive snowfall comes a risk for flooding, so Utah residents across the state have been filling sandbags in preparation for what is to come when temperatures finally do warm up. Did you know that Utah has 42 major reservoirs (man made lakes)?  As the snow pack melts, the reservoirs are filled, making water available for irrigation & resident use. Some of that "stock piling" of water will be used within the year, and some of the water will be saved for future drought years. This is a practical example of stewardship.
What does scripture say about stewardship?

Proverbs 6:6-8
Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.
Genesis 41:35-36
Then let them gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and store up the grain for food in the cities under Pharaoh’s authority, and let them guard it. Let the food become as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which will occur in the land of Egypt, so that the land will not perish during the famine.
AND Scripture says DO NOT HOARD!
Matthew 6:19
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

Scripture is clear on the topic of stewardship. We are to be diligent in managing our finances, energy, time, careers, and even relationships. This is a concept that I am teaching to the Airmen, those I see as our future deacons, elders and church leaders. Our new teaching series is on living a life of high character for Christ, and many of the Airmen are even preparing the lessons & co-teaching with me!

Some topics we'll be covering for this series are: addictions, commitment issues, vanity/modesty/clothing (including gym workout attire), dangers of social media, our words, & lying. Pray for transformation of our Airmen into Christ likeness. Its such a privilege to be in this ministry loving on Airmen in this way. Thanks to all of you who pray for and donate finances to our military ministry!
