Special Election Results
The word "VOTE" in old letters, styled with red white and blue stripes and stars.Littleton voters turned down Ballot Question 300 at a special election held March 7. Initial results are as follows:
  • Yes: 2,669
  • No: 6,671
Ballot Question 300 was a citizen-initiated amendment to the city charter that would have reduced the number of signatures required for special elections and shorten the timeframe to schedule a special election. The measure would have reduced the number of signatures required from 10-15 percent (depending on circumstances) to five percent of registered electors registered to vote in the last general municipal election.

It would also have required that an election be held between 60-150 days following verification of petitions as specified in state statutes.

Littleton Mayor Kyle Schlachter said, “I’m glad to see that Littleton voters agreed with city council’s position to not amend our Charter’s process for referendums and initiatives. I know this election has been somewhat divisive, and a bit confusing, and I hope our community can come together in improving the high quality of life we enjoy in Littleton. City council members and city staff are always happy to interact with our community members and welcome their input in our democratic process.”

As a Home Rule Municipality, Littleton is governed by its Charter that can only be amended by a vote of registered electors.

It is estimated that the March 7 election cost upwards of $165,000.

The results are unofficial until a canvass of the vote is conducted on March 17.

Broadway Corridor Study Seeks Feedback
Broadway between I-25 and Highlands Ranch Parkway is a vibrant corridor where people live, work, learn, and play. This 11-mile stretch of Broadway provides local and regional connections through the City and County of Denver, Arapahoe County, Douglas County; and the cities of Englewood, Littleton, and Centennial. The City of Littleton is partnering with these agencies to study the transportation and land use conditions along this section of Broadway.

The study will establish a cohesive vision for the corridor’s future and identify improvements that will  connect the unique identities of the surrounding communities, foster economic vibrancy, provide safe and comfortable spaces, and support regional mobility options for all.
