|
Peter Estabrook
We are pleased to announce that on April 2nd, Palm Sunday, we will be welcoming guest musician, Peter Estabrook on the trumpet. Peter is the son of parishioner, Diana Estabrook, and is a well-known Bay Area artist and teacher.
He will join the choir on the morning's anthem All Glory Be To Thee On High and will join Doug Richardson for a performance of Stephen Adams' The Holy City.
Pete Estabrook holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Professional Music from Berklee College and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Jazz Studies from California Institute of the Arts as well as an AmSAT Approved Teaching Certificate from the Northern California Center for the Alexander Technique.
In addition to teaching privately since 1983, he has taught Jazz courses, Applied Trumpet, and Music Fundamentals at Santa Rosa Junior College since 1996 and has served on the faculty at Sonoma State, Pacific Union College, and Napa Valley College. Pete has 7 album credits (to date) with Bay Area Artists in the Jazz, Pop, Folk, and Ethnic genres. His transcriptions of Miles Davis' solos have also been included with the 2006 and 2009 Concord Music Group re-releases of the classic Prestige Sessions, and his transcriptions of Ellington's Queen's Suite were performed by the Danish National Radio Orchestra in 1991.

Food Distribution at St. Patrick's Church
|
|
|
Eleanor Albon and her Team were back again for the St Patrick's Food Distribution! We are so thankful St. Patrick's can allow space for the Food Bank to giveaway food and we are especially thankful for Eleanor who has gathered volunteers to distribute food and has kept this ministry alive within our community! Below is her thankful recap from Monday, March 13th.
Thank you to Pam/Larry H, Susan S, Beth B, Anna/Joel B, driver Tommy and rep Arturo. 44 households/146 individuals received food tonight! There was no need for parking lot lights (thank you Daylight Savings Time) nor rain gear (thank you, Mother Nature!)
Tonight we began our pre-covid method of distribution. Food was placed on tables. Arturo registered clients. They parked, then walked through, accompanied by one volunteer, who assisted and told them how much of each item to get. Two volunteers stood behind the tables to re-supply items as needed. Tonight, they didn't know to bring bags, but everything worked out! Before our next distribution, they will be emailed to let them know to bring bags. This procedure lets distribution move more quickly!
Sadly, one of our regular clients, Robin, passed last week. He lived next door to St Pat's. His memorial service was today at 2:00 p.m. at St Pat's. The reception was next door, and at 4:30 p.m. the reception was still on going! Some left as we completed our distribution at 6:00 !
Today is 03-13-23. So, if 3 is a good number for you, you are very happy today!
Eleanor

March 14, 21, 28 at 4:00 P.M. – on Zoom – The Psalms
What book of the Old Testament is the most quoted in the New Testament? How many types of Psalms are there? What is the purpose of the Psalms? Why are these Jewish prayers theologically relevant to Christians and to us individually? So many questions! So much to learn about the Psalms an from The Book of Psalms.
Click HERE for your Zoom link and information.
Please contact Mother Karen at motherkgking@gmail.com for more information.

There were 16 guests at the Nomadic Shelter on March 4. There were some guests we remembered from the last Shelter date and several newcomers. All of them were very grateful to be in a warm room out of the weather. They enjoyed a hearty macaroni, cheese, and sausage casserole with Ambrosia by Ron Keith along with some delicious cookies made by Merle Holtzen, Margaret Merchat and Betsy Randolph.
Several people helped set the tables and serve dinner: Dakota Borgfeldt, Sarah Phillips, Ron Keith, Karl Mutch, Jackie Senter, and Rich Randolph. All were ready and willing to greet our guests, serve dinner and clean up. A very adaptable group! Margaret Merchat and Betsy prepared the casserole. It was a great group of volunteers.
If you are interested in helping with the Nomadic Shelter, please contact Betsy Randolph at (408)981-2024. There are two more opportunities: April 1 is the next one and the last one until fall is April 29. Both are on Saturday. We sometimes prepare some of the food on the day before and on the day of the Shelter we need help anytime from 2 p.m. until 7:15. You can help with any part of that schedule.

Extraordinary Evening at St Patrick's Church
|
|
|
Note: The photos above- On the left the two men shown are an immigrants who migrated to America. And the woman standing next to them is the film maker, Lina Hoshino.
The photo on the right is of Laurie Boone Hogen speaking.
The event was very well attended, over 120, including two Afghan men whose family are resettling with support from St. John’s Episcopal in Petaluma.
Laurie’s article in the Press Democrat drew much of the audience. the JACL, Japanese American Citizens League sponsored the production of the three video histories of the Asian American women. Each presented a compassion inspiiring account of gracious coping with race and gender oriented discrimination.
The Education Committee plans on presenting films on Social Justice and Environmental Stewardship incorporating a theme of hope. Arrangements are underway to show My Octopus Teacher in the near future. Stay tuned! Talk to Laurie with your interests.
Thank you to all who attended!
