Meditation:
There are prayers to which the Lord replies only with the promise to fulfill them in the future. The centurion asked that his servant be healed, and the Lord answered: “I will come”. Isn't the same thing repeated in our case? When our prayer is not immediately fulfilled, we nevertheless feel that the Lord is not silent. Something like a premonition arises in our heart and, giving us unprecedented strength, serves as a guarantee of future happiness.
Just as in the spring swallows are harbingers of the summer, so in the depths of our soul we then hear the words: “I will come”. Let us be thankful for those moments; if they do not bring us what we wished for, they point to better times in the future. And let us also value the peace which comes to us during the times of expectation. The promise itself already encourages us, and we feel that there will be an answer.
Such moments were fruitful and blessed for many. Let us recall how Abraham left his homeland and his father’s house, relying only on God's promise. In this promise he found the strength to climb Mount Moriah and to endure the greatest test of faith there. This strength was given to him by the words: “I will come”.
We, too, should seek support in these words. And let us also, embarking upon the difficult, long journey of life, preserve in our hearts the hope that our prayer will eventually be heard and answered.
There is no sorrow which Christ would not heal, there is no human life which he would not visit sooner or later in reply to the sincere call of a tormented soul. Remembering this, we shall remain firm during trials, when the greatest sacrifice will be demanded of us. Our tears will be harbingers of future glory, and amid the harsh winter we will hear the joyful sounds of approaching spring, since the Lord has told us: “I will come!”. The clouds will disperse around us, and our eyes will behold the glow of dawn.

«Иисус говорит ему: Я приду и исцелю его» (Мф. 8:7)
Бывают молитвы, на которые Господь отвечает лишь обещанием исполнения в будущем. Сотник просил исцеления своего слуги, и Господь отвечал ему: «Я приду». Не повторяется ли то же самое и с нами? Тогда, когда наша молитва не бывает тотчас исполнена, мы все же чувствуем, что Господь не безмолвствует. Нечто, похожее на предчувствие, возникает в нашем сердце и, придавая нам небывалую бодрость, служит как бы залогом будущего счастья.
Как весною ласточки являются предвестниками лета, так и в глубине души у нас звучат тогда слова: «Я приду». Будем же благодарны за эти минуты; если они не приносят нам то, о чем мы мечтали, они указывают нам на лучшие времена в будущем. Будем же ценить и то затишье, которое находит на нас в минуты ожидания. Одно обещание уже ободряет нас, и мы чувствуем, что будет ответ.
Такие минуты бывали плодотворны и блаженны для многих. Вспомним, как Авраам оставил свою родину и дом отца своего, опираясь только на обещание Божие. В этом обещании он нашел силу подняться на гору Мориа и выдержать там величайшее испытание веры. Эта сила ему была дана словами: «Я приду».
И мы должны искать опору в этих словах. Мы тоже, пускаясь в тяжелый, дальний путь жизни, будем хранить в нашем сердце упование, что молитва наша когда-нибудь будет услышана и исполнена.
Нет той скорби, которую не исцелил бы Христос, нет той жизни человеческой, которую Он не посетил бы рано или поздно в ответ на искренний призыв томящейся души. Помня это, мы останемся твердыми в испытании, когда от нас потребуется величайшая жертва. Слезы наши будут предвестниками будущей славы, и среди суровой зимы нам послышатся радостные звуки приближающейся весны, ибо Господь сказал нам: «Я приду!». Тучи рассеются вокруг нас, и перед нашим взором откроется загорающаяся заря.
