Dear parents

Thank you for your understanding during this week of industrial action. It has been great to be back in school today and see the children in their 'crazy' outfits in recognition of Red Nose Day. Thank you for your generous donations.

Mr. Warriner
I just wanted to give you an update regarding Mr. Warriner. He is currently in North Preston Hospital with sepsis and has been very unwell. He hopes to return after Easter and asks you to encourage the children to keep practising their instruments!

Mother's and Other's shop
Our amazing PTFA have gone to tremendous lengths again this year to create a really lovely gift shop. I am sure that you will be thrilled with the surprises chosen by your children. I hope you all have a lovely Mothering Sunday.

Singing Festival
I look forward to seeing you at the singing festival this week. Your children have worked hard learning the songs in school and are looking forward to performing them with an audience.

In collaboration with the Rotary Club, we are asking for a small donation to raise money for UniqueKidz, a wonderful charity very close to our hearts! There will be a collection bucket in the hall. In the classroom this week!

This week the Puffins have been reading Jack and the Beanstalk!  We have been drawing our own giant castles in the sky and labelling them.  We have planted cress seeds using wool and are watching them grow this week.  In maths we have been learning about the number 10 and played some games with missing numbers from 1-10. In phonics we have played some games to help us learn the 'or' sound.

Team Puffin

This week was a funny one, but we did spend our days in school working super hard as always!  Year 1 have continued their work on Jack and the Beanstalk, and Year 2 have been writing recounts of the Great Fire of London.  In maths Y2 have been working on their 5 times table, and year 1 have been finding the difference using subtraction.  In Science we had another Zoom meeting with Maeva who is now 4 months old and we learnt that she can now hold a toy and giggle!  Finally we had a great active session with Coach Gunn on Tuesday afternoon. You should have received some information in book bags about his holiday sessions.
Next week we have our Music Festival which we are very excited to show you!

Mrs James and Mrs Whitaker

This week in Kingfisher Class, the children have been writing persuasive letters to the president of Brazil. As we approach the end of our rainforest topic, they have been using their knowledge about the importance of the rainforest to try to persuade the government of Brazil to afford the rainforest greater protection. The children are very knowledgable about the rainforest now so please do talk to them about this topic and encourage them to share what they've learnt.
In maths, we have had a times tables recap this week, with Year 3 revisiting the 4 times tables and Year 4 revisiting the 12 times table. In addition, the children have continued their multiplication and division units.
In gymnastics on Monday, the children began putting together routines involving mirrored shapes and we're looking forward to trying these using the equipment next week. On Tuesday, the children spent a fabulous hour with Greg Sykes who is an outdoor learning practitioner. It was a perfect break from all their persuasive writing! They also enjoyed RE with Mr Mossop, in which they continued their learning about the events of Holy Week.
Next week is a busy one with lots of things to look forward too, especially the Lune Valley Cluster football tournament on Tuesday and the Singing Festival on Wednesday.
Have a great weekend everyone,
Mrs Burgess

In Maths this week, we continued adding and subtracting decimals in Year 5 and tackled problem questions. The Year 6s continued with percentages and learnt how to find missing totals.
In English, we wrote a class song following the structure and features of 7 Years by Lukas Graham. The class did an amazing job and you might see it performed in the future...
On Tuesday, the class had an amazing day. In the morning we did outdoor learning and the children learnt how to build a structure and how to make a fire. Then in the afternoon we visited the Maritime Museum for a meet the Vikings Worskhop. They met the vikings, Olaf and Linden, who taught them all about viking culture.
We finished with Art and some practice for the music festival.
Have a great weekend.

Mr Pedder
