The award will raise the profile of the cities that have developed and implemented innovative policies; established frameworks that boost breakthrough innovation; enhanced the city attractiveness towards investors, industry, enterprises and talents; helped to open up connections and strengthen links with other cities, promoting the replication of best practices in the innovation field; enhanced citizens' involvement in the decision-making process; and supported cities resilience.

The traditional city innovation ecosystem is opening up to new models of innovation engaging citizens. An increasing number of cities are acting as test beds for innovation and run people-driven initiatives to find solutions to societal challenges. For this reason, the European Capital of Innovation Awards will recognize the cities’ role as catalysers of the local innovation ecosystem and will stimulate new activities aimed at boosting game-changing innovation

Professionals, such as project developers, architects, engineers, building owners, planners and statutory authorities, require solutions that develop, analyse, model, visualise and present a multitude and complex set of information in such a way that facilitates such co-design processes. This topic focuses on the development of digital solutions for a stronger participation of end users, citizens and other relevant stakeholders in the design, planning and management of the renovation of existing buildings, neighborhoods and / or districts.

Improvements in the discrete technology areas should be developed holistically – e.g. work on monitoring instrumentation should be consistent with work on moorings & connections. The innovative technologies should not significantly harm the environment (DNSH principle), and have low impact on ecosystem biodiversity and consider potential mitigation measures. The projects should by using the precautionary principle elaborate proposals for acceptable harm and what low impact on biodiversity mean. Projects should demonstrate how improvements in the different technology topics can be applied to multiple different ocean energy devices – for example to a wide range of floating devices, or a wide range of sub-sea devices.

The EIT Urban Mobility Accelerators consist of seven thematic EU-funded programmes implemented through partners to take early-stage mobility start-ups to the next level. As candidaturas ao Sistema de Incentivos Fiscais à I&D Empresarial (SIFIDE), gerido pela ANI, estão abertas até 31 de maio de 2023. As empresas com atividades em I&D no ano fiscal de 2022 podem assim recuperar parte do seu investimento através de crédito fiscal. As empresas com período de tributação diferente do ano civil podem submeter a sua candidatura até ao último dia do quinto mês seguinte à data do termo do período de tributação a que respeitam as despesas de I&D.
