Dear friends and family,

It’s long past time for a Mason update! Thank you for all your prayers over these last 5-6 weeks. Deb’s hip replacement went really well. 12 hours in the hospital, 1 week off work and 2 off the gym, and now everything except a bath. She rarely even uses the cane, except when the leg pain from her back rears it’s ugly head. The spine surgery is scheduled for April 10. Please pray for that, for our peace, and also for continued strengthening of the new left hip and leg. And for continued patience with the pain caused by the spine problems, which, of course, is exasperated now that the hip is not hurting!

We have had a very busy several weeks despite the surgery. Our granddaughter stayed overnight the Friday after surgery and was just great with much slower Grandma. The next day a fellow worker / dear friend arrived and stayed for about a week. He and Brett had lots of time to talk through many things in debrief sessions, and more time for fun conversation too. It was a blessing having him here and we thank the Lord for this house that allows us to host special people.

Commissioner... “Dear Commissioner Mason.” I am beginning to receive emails and postal mail addressed to “Commissioner Mason.” Governor Kim Reynolds has appointed me to the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission, the board who overseas the Iowa Communications Network. The ICN, a state agency, is a state-of-the-art fiber optic network providing telecommunications services to its authorized users including high-speed broadband Internet, data, voice (phone), security, and consulting services. ICN serves all 99 counties in Iowa, hospitals, schools, emergency management, correctional facilities and law enforcement.

I am really excited and honored about this role. I’ve attended the February ITTC meeting in Des Moines, and have begun work on the Operations Committee. This work takes about one day a month, offers a small stipend, along with expenses to the Capitol whenever I need to travel there for meetings. The Board is great, the ICN team who operates the network is phenomenal as well. Thank you Governor Reynolds!

Thank you every one who stepped up to help our financial support for the pastoral care and coaching work we do in All Nations! We are humbled, and thrilled, and so encouraged. We had asked to see more funding come in, and our ministry account received a three-month infusion in one month! This means for certain we can join the All Nations Gathering in Hradec-Králové, CZ this August. A time to listen, encourage, care for and support our field workers in Europe, Middle East and North Africa. YOU MADE IT HAPPEN! We continue to seek both prayer and financial partners, so please feel free to share about us with others too.

Thank you for praying for us, and our pastoral care work. We’ve enjoyed calls this week to Czechoslovakia, Uganda, Jordan, Other ME countries, Uganda, South Africa, Nepal, Thailand and Japan. That is just this week. Encouraging some, listening so others can pour out, holding these up in prayer and asking for break-throughs – that’s what we do. YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN!

We are so grateful for you!

Love, Brett & Debbie Mason
