 ANNOUNCEMENTS

March 12, 2023

WELCOME!  If you are a visitor or new to Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church—we’re glad you’re here. Worship at our church is a joyful, prayerful, music-filled, traditional and modern experience. We worship to glorify God and build up the community of believers to live in this world as followers of Jesus Christ.

The 8:30 am traditional service meets in Sanner Chapel, immediately inside the front entrance of the church. Our traditional 10:45 am service is in the Sanctuary and is livestreamed on our website, Facebook and YouTube. You can also access the livestream by clicking here

For more information:  www.mlumc.org or 412-531-7131.
There will be no Gathering service this Sunday, March 12th.

Rev. Larry Homitsky will be hosting welcome training in Asbury Center during The Gathering's typical 9:30 am time slot. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend!
The Youth Group will be selling chocolate covered pretzels next Sunday, March 19th, and Sunday, April 2nd.
They will be available before and after service, sold at $5 per bag. The money raised will contribute to the youth group’s upcoming mission trip to Project Crossroads in Marion, VA.

Sign-Up for the Youth Mission Trip

The youth will returning to Project Crossroads in Marion, VA, for their annual summer mission trip. The dates are Sunday, July 9th through Saturday, July 15th. The cost will be $50. The deadline to sign up is next Sunday, March 19th.
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Stephanie Lowe at youth@mlumc.org or 412-584-5446.
Every Sunday there are three opportunities to enhance our 10:45 service for in person and online worship: house slides, sound, and livestream attendants.  Starting in April, we desire to have a rotating schedule that would only require commitment for one Sunday a month.  Training is simple and available by just sitting with the team in the balcony.  Specific training times can also be set up by request.
No previous experience is necessary. Please contact the church office to join the digital worship team!

EGGstravaganza

MLUMC’s annual Easter EGGstravaganza will take place on Saturday, April 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.  This family friendly event is perfect for all ages, especially children preschool through elementary school age, and is open to everyone in the community at no charge.  Please invite friends and neighbors to come!  Children and their parents will move at their own pace between several stations including egg decorating, crafts, and games. No food will be served at this year’s event.
Please consider volunteering to help make this year’s EGGstravaganza a success!  We need adult and teen helpers with stations, set up helpers on Friday and Saturday, and a clean-up crew.  Please contact Kim Rhoton (krhoton@mlumc.org) to help.
Can’t be there the day of the event? Consider donating hard-boiled eggs for the egg decorating station. These may be dropped off in the church kitchen in the marked refrigerator on Friday, April 8. No other food or candy donations will be needed since we will not be serving lunch.

1st Lenten Community Fish Fry Feeds Body, Mind, and Soul

Many thanks to all who were able to participate in our 1st Lenten Fish Fry on Friday, February 24th. Over 500 meals were served via eat-in, take-out, or delivery. Recipients included many from our surrounding community as well as those from our extended Church family. Staples such as fried fish, macaroni ‘n cheese, Cole slaw, and hush puppies were provided, as well as an assortment of tasty desserts.
As is our practice, there was no charge for the meal but free will donations were accepted. To paraphrase Pastor Tom, those who donated helped to ensure that those who could not donate were still able to eat. And, not surprisingly, donations more than covered the cost of the meal. Thanks be to God!
Our next Community Fish Fry will be on Good Friday, April 7th from 4pm to 7pm. Among other things, it will feature live music for eat-ins, an expanded menu, and the availability of Communion elements. Please mark this date on your calendar and get ready for another great evening of food and fellowship.

2023 Easter Memorials

Purchase flowers or make a donation for the MLUMC Food Pantry in honor or memory of friends or loved ones. The flowers will be on display in the Sanctuary on Easter Sunday, April 9th. They may be picked up after the 10:45 service or any time after Easter. Brighten someone’s day—deliver your flowers to a shut-in or ask the church to deliver.
