2022 Mission & Service Results: Thank You!

It is with immense gratitude that we thank everyone who contributed to Mission & Service and the work of the church in 2022. Mission & Service givings totalled $21.1 million, planned gifts totalled $1.8 million, and over $1.5 million was contributed for the people of Ukraine. That is a total of $24.5M and the demonstration of amazing generosity. Read more about the 2022 Mission & Service results.
Together through Mission & Service we have supported life-changing work that affects people in Canada and across the globe. Stories of the impact of your gifts can be found on our website and on YouTube. You can also get an update from one of our partners assisting Ukrainian refugees.
Our shared care, concern, prayers, generosity, and action in relation to the work we do together—our United Church Mission & Service—is a powerful expression of our faith. Thank you so much for your gifts.

The United Church of Canada invites churches and faith communities across the country to hold a vigil or event on March 24, 25, or 26 to call for a Guaranteed Livable Income. More information including a new email template for letters to government, can be found on the Guaranteed Livable Income webpage. Send details of the event you are planning to justice@united-church.ca

The United Church Bookstore: PIE Day

Today is PIE Day, a time to be PUBLIC, INTENTIONAL, and EXPLICIT in welcoming and affirming Two-Spirit or LGBTQIA+ people in our churches, families, and society.
Our PIE Day featured read is The Queer Evangelist by Cheri DiNovo. A queer minister, politician, and staunch activist for LGBTQ rights, DiNovo went from living on the streets as a teenager to performing the first legalized same-sex marriage registered in Canada in 2001. From rights for queer parents to banning conversion therapy, her story will inspire people (queer or ally) to not only resist the system—but also change it.

Faithful Footprints: Retrofit Tours

Has your community of faith participated in The United Church of Canada’s Faithful Footprints program? Consider hosting a Faithful Footprints Retrofit Tour of your building this Earth Week to celebrate and showcase your building’s completed energy and decarbonization retrofit projects!
This is an opportunity to inspire others by sharing your experience, lessons learned, as well as the carbon, energy, operational costs, and impact your community has experienced.
Retrofit Tours must be hosted between April 16 and 23, 2023, and can be held in conjunction with other Earth Week events taking place throughout the week. Sign up to host a tour!

It's Your Call Podcast with John Egger
It's Your Call podcast talks with John Egger, who has recently returned from Korea, where he served as an ecumenical Co-Worker in Mission with the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK).
John is a layperson who considered ordained ministry in the United Church while starting his career, but instead discovered a call that was perhaps more "precarious" yet just as valid as a call to ordained ministry. Listen to the podcast!
