 Dear Parents,

Calvary Christian School has finished our accreditation visit, with educators representing the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) evaluating every facet of our school's program.

After meetings with parents, teachers, students, the School Ministry Team and church leadership, observing teachers in their classrooms, and attending special events such as our Spirit Assembly and Chapel, and reviewing our curriculum documents, handbooks, policies and practices, the visiting team summarized their findings in a report to the school.

In the spirit of ongoing continuous school improvement, the team provided commendations and recommendations in every area of the school's program. The most significant part of the report are the Major Commendations and Recommendations. These are the "big picture" items that the team feels reflects what we do very well, and where we need to grow. Our report, based on the work of an outstanding team of experienced accreditators, is something we can all be proud of. In fact, it is the strongest, most positive accreditation report I have seen in all my years of working in schools and serving on accreditation teams.

Here are the eight major commendations and two major recommendations:

Major Commendations

  • Major Commendation # 1
The school functions cohesively within its constituents and in conjunction with its parent Church to provide a comprehensive education program that consistently functions according to its declared philosophy, mission, vision, and core values.

  • Major Commendation # 2
Calvary Christian School has a highly-effective governing body which has flourished under the direction of the new Head of School. The SMT should be commended on how it supports the rights and obligations of the Head of School.

  • Major Commendation # 3
The School is committed to having a process in place to identify individual students’ unique learning needs and provide necessary support through The Eagle Academy, an impactful onsite learning intervention program.

  • Major Commendation # 4
Calvary Christian school has a devoted Christian staff and faculty who have a passion for Christ, for students, and for Christ-centered education.

  • Major Commendation # 5
Calvary Christian School has recruited and successfully retained highly qualified faculty whose skills and collaboration positively affect school culture, promote a cohesive program, and facilitate student learning.

  • Major Commendation # 6
CCS has developed a systematic process for the assessment of student learning and development, utilizing a variety of assessment measures over time to accomplish the expected student outcomes.

  • Major Commendation # 7
The school’s physical facility is an extremely secure site. It is well-suited in size, furniture, and space for the number and age of pupils it serves while fulfilling its declared philosophies, missions, and goals.

  • Major Commendation # 8
The school has placed of prime importance the cultivation of character development, the acquisition of Christian values, and spiritual formation of students at all grade levels.

Recommendations

  • Major Recommendation # 1
The SMT and administration seek the means to provide just compensation packages commensurate with qualifications and work experience to attract and retain strong faculty and staff.

  • Major recommendation # 2
Develop and implement a written professional development plan aligned with school-wide goals.
Thank you to all of you who helped contribute to this reflective process! We appreciate all of your support and prayers!
Blessings,

Mr. David Seidman
Head of School
