Parenting on the Spectrum
Hello,

We had a fantastic turnout for the March session of Purposeful Life. If you missed the session on Guardianship, you can click here for the handouts and view the recording on our Facebook page. The next session of Purposeful Life will be Thursday, April 6th. We will have a panel who will share their expertise and personal experiences on the following topic: Who needs to know about your or your child’s disability? When and how you can share that information? When and where should a disability be disclosed? As your child grows older, the importance of these questions grows as well. Our panel will discuss their experiences as well as share guidance and resources to guide your family.

We will provide dinner, childcare for children ages 2 and up, youth training for children with a disability age 11 and up, and a sibling support group for children ages 7 and up. Spanish translation is available upon request.  What is youth training? The youth training combines activities that mirror the main session topic. The activities are adapted to their needs and focus on self-advocacy and self-discovery. The sibling support group is an opportunity for siblings to connect and offers a space for them to share their experiences. The sibling support group is only available when more than two siblings register.

P.S.U.N. (Providing Smiles and Understanding Needs) provides free programs and events to children and their families in Bryan/College Station with long term illnesses, disabilities, and special needs. They provide several outreach options for our community such as hospital visitsfamily programschallenger sports, a buddy program, and events. We believe forming lasting relationships with our buddies and their families is key, not only in their own growth, but in ours as well.

Every year, the students work hard to raise funds so that kids can go on trips at no cost to the families. In the past, they taken our kids to Santa's Wonderland, Dewberry Farms and Morgan's Wonderland! They also hold free carnivals, themed playdates and Parent's Night Out and have a buddy program.

Click the button below to visit their website and find out more about their free programs or to fill out a family application form.
