Movers, Shakers, and Tappers,

I begin my day with Mo Sha Ta. It's an acronym I created to refer to my daily, instant mood and energy reset. This morning ritual is a short, spontaneous blend of Moving, Shaking, and Tapping. It's not just how I begin my day, it's how I begin every class I teach.

Introducing controlled chaos into our system is one way to establish order at a heightened level. In this case we're introducing vibration to stimulate a 'higher vibe' in our systems vibrational frequency. Ultimately it's about turning on the circulation, mobility, and vitality of our biofield.

The term biofield generally refers to the large field of energy and information that surrounds and permeates living organisms. It's often referred to as the human energy field or the aura.

Although energy systems aren't visible to the human eye, the biofield can be felt with the hands. As in qigong, this field can also be manipulated or influenced through movement and hand placement to promote healing and wellness.

The human biofield is a reflection of our physical, mental, emotional, and energetic bodies. These distinct dimensions of our totality have their own level of vibration and mobility. They are equally interdependent, as well. When positively activated they ignite one another in a symbiotic, vibrational dance that makes us FEEL GOOD!

What moving, shaking, and tapping does is address all levels by removing stagnation and increasing circulation so you can feel your true nature; relaxed aliveness. It primes us for the vitality of heightened energetic flow and integral, vibrational, mobility.

Mo Sha Ta wakes us up at a cellular and energetic level, it illuminates our awareness. This simple practice is one enjoyable and easy way of calling us home to our body through the presence of and increasing felt sense of aliveness.

MOVING
Regular movement can improve our energy levels, cognitive function, and sleep quality. Movement in general has a positive impact on mental health, reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression and improving overall mood.

Moving our bodies regularly is essential for maintaining good health and wellbeing. Among numerous benefits, physical activity can help us maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, improve cardiovascular health, and increase bone density.

Incorporating movement into our daily routine doesn't have to mean strenuous exercise. Gentle activities such as walking, stretching, housework, or gardening can provide significant benefits.

Life is movement, when we move with ease, we move with life. Moving our bodies regularly is essential for our physical and mental wellbeing, and can help us live a longer, healthier, and more fulfilling life.

SHAKING
Gently or vigorously shaking our body can have numerous benefits for our overall wellbeing. First and foremost, shaking helps to release tension and stress that may be stored in our organs, muscles, fascia, and joints.

By shaking, we activate our body's natural relaxation response, which can lower blood pressure, reduce muscle tension, and improve overall mood. Shaking can also improve circulation and boost the immune system by increasing lymphatic flow.
Additionally, shaking can be a fun and energizing way to start the day or break up sedentary periods throughout the day. It can increase our overall sense of vitality and help us feel more alive and present in our bodies.

Shaking things up, literally and metaphorically, can be a way to intentionally wake us out of old patterns of limitation that have set in. This frees us up physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically to experience ourselves anew.
...
TAPPING
In the qigong tradition tapping the surface of our body is a form of self massage. Gently tapping our body stimulates energy flow and improves focus. It is believed to help clear blockages in the body's energy pathways, (known as meridians in Chinese medicine) which can impede physical and mental performance.

By tapping on certain points along the meridians, we activate our body's natural healing mechanisms and increase blood flow, oxygen, and energy to the muscles. Tapping can also help enhance mental clarity and focus, improving our concentration and performance.

A more modern version of body tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), is a technique that involves tapping on specific points on the body to release emotional and physical tension while making intentional statements.

Each of the points in the diagram above represent the end of a meridian.
Tapping on these points in a specific order with intentions for clearing blockages has been shown to have numerous benefits for mental and physical health.

When tapping is combined with NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) it can help reduce anxiety, depression, and stress by calming the nervous system and promoting relaxation.

Both EFT and NLP have been applied successfully to r
elease negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs, alleviate physical pain, and improve sleep quality.

Stress is an unavoidable part of life. Similar to the function and purpose of our immune system, having a strategic defensive strategy for keeping our biofield clear of the interference patterns that come with being human can help us live more balanced, peaceful, healthy, and fulfilling lives.

We can apply these techniques proactively as well. Moving, shaking, and tapping each, on their own, are proven ways to mentally, physically, emotionally, and energetically prepare for facing challenging situations. They help to reduce anxiety and nervousness and increase confidence and mental readiness.

Similar to showering to cleanse our body on the outside to begin our day, a combination of moving, shaking, and tapping is a dry shower that cleanses us from the inside out and further prepares us for a good day. Try it out now with this very gentle 10 minute Feel Good practice with Kseny .
In addition to the more obvious ways to increase circulation and flow through our systems, there are also equally effective invisible and subtle ways to increase mobility in our lives. These approaches involve introducing challenges to our perspectives, thoughts, feelings, language, stories, and imagination.

I invited NLP, Family Soul Constellation, and Huna practitioner Meredith Herrenbruck to join me for a conversation about her work and her book Becoming Ridiculously Awesome.

To sum up the gist of our conversation in my own words, I will tell you this: Merediths message and her lifes' work is clearly about moving out and shaking off what doesn't serve us so we can begin tapping in to what's already ridiculously awesome about our lives.

Moving, shaking, and tapping are to the cells of our body what chocolate is to the tastebuds of our tongue; instant satisfaction and recognition of something pleasurable. Just as we don't need to eat a whole chocolate bar to get the benefits, even just 5 minutes of Mo Sha Ta can bring instant satisfaction and relief.

It's a portable and transportive practice that can be applied anytime, anywhere, for any length of time to elevate our experience of being embodied and feeling more humane.

Of all the movement forms and health systems I've researched, studied, and practice, qigong is the one system that recognizes and incorporates the wisdom of the biofield the most.

Energetic hygiene and optimization of the biofield is the sole and primary intention of this internal art form; hence the name, Qi (energy) Gong (cultivation).
