Post-sermon question: What will you fill in the blank?
Round 2 Votes are in for Hymn Madness! This was a tough round with many favorites eliminated, including The Old Rugged Cross, Holy Holy Holy, and Great is Thy Faithfulness. We will vote on our Sweet Sixteen of contenders during this Sunday's worship hour.
Church-wide Retreat Saturday
This Saturday from 10-2 PM, all church members are invited to attend a special retreat at the church in which we will discern God’s dreams for the future. (Lunch will be provided to those who have already RSVP’d.)
March is Women-in-the-pulpit month!
The Committee on the Status and Role of Women (COSROW) has invited all UMC churches in our conference to host a woman in the pulpit one Sunday in March. We are pleased to participate and will welcome Rev. Kelly Clem to the pulpit this Sunday. Kelly is a retired UMC pastor and district superintendent.
Congrats, Elias!
Elias Oldendorf achieved greatness this week by receiving first place in Future Problem Solvers Community Problem Solving Event. This means Elias is headed to Massachusetts in June to compete internationally! If you would like to financially support Elias' travel expenses, connect with him on Sunday.
Anniversary Books are in!
Thanks to the tireless leadership of Mike Linholm, we now have available free historical books, celebrating our 150 years of Christian service and mission as a congregation. You may pick up your copy anytime from the Conference Room.
Update from Lay Leader and Pastor
In the fall, the church council entrusted the lay leader (Mel Travis) and the pastor to receive any input from church members who desire the church to move into a discernment process regarding disaffillition. Thus far, we have heard from very few people in support of a process, leading us to assume there is little energy behind any discernment at this point. If anything changes, the council will be the first to know. Mel and Matt are always open to chat.
