Dear ILSW Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Exciting School News:
What a great National Lutheran Schools Week last week! Thank you to our teachers that put so much work into the week! Special thanks to Melissa Bady, Chris Grubbs, Laura Stolin, Payton May, and Linnea Hopper for all of their work planning for the week. Thank you to Jenna Fredrickson for leading all of the students in their amazing performances for Grandparents Day, Julia Gray for the student art galleries, Elizabeth Verner and Ellie Zuroweste for all their work with the bookfair all week.

March 10th was the last day of 3rd quarter! 4th quarter starts on Tuesday, March 14th. (Reminder, there is no school on the 13th because of teacher PD/in-service)

Upcoming Dress Days:

March 17th: Green and Jeans day. Students can wear a green shirt and jeans or uniform pants. It is NOT free dress bottoms. Students can only wear jeans or uniform bottoms. Students can still wear spiritwear, as Fridays are always spiritwear days as well. 

Upcoming Days off/half days:
March 13th- No School -Staff In-Service

School Families that would like to donate an item: There are many different items listed on the Sign-Up genius list for families to purchase and donate. Many of the gift cards can even be purchased through our Scrip Card program that benefits you and the school.

Volunteers for April 1st: We will need bartenders, scorekeepers and event runners that night. I will be sending out a sign up genius this week for volunteers to sign up.

Trivia Table registration is 1st come first serve, and this will be a sold out event. As of this morning, we have one table left. 

Trivia Committee meeting: Our next meeting is Monday, March 13th at 2pm.

Upcoming Volunteer Needs:

Our Trivia Night will be April 1st. We will be asking for volunteers to help that night to help with the scorers table, bar, etc. Please look for that sign up opportunity to go this week via FastDirect.

Our Teacher/Staff Appreciation week is May 1st-5th. If you would like to be a part of that committee, please Fast Direct Tonya Molitor.

Church News/Services:
Traditional Worship: Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 8
Contemporary Worship: Sunday at 9:30 and 11

Lenten services will be held at 3:45pm and 6:45pm from February 22nd-Holy Week.

Yearbook orders are happening now!

Here is the link to order a yearbook for your K-8th grade student.  Preschool is NOT featured in the yearbook.  The cost is $22 and the ordering window closes on 3/26/23.  You can order a personalized copy with your student’s name on the cover for an additional cost.  There will be a very limited number of cash and carry yearbooks available in May for $24.

  Crossing Guard and Lunchroom Volunteer Sign-up!

Here are the Crossing Guard and Lunchroom volunteer sign ups for January 2023-May 2023.  Help our students cross the parking lot safely and help the transition between lunch shifts by cleaning tables.  You will earn one hour of volunteer time for each time slot.  Thank you for supporting our school!

 Lutheran High News
The Roboteers attended the St. Louis Regional Competition. Held at the Chaifetz Arena, this is their first competition in the Charged Up season! Best of luck, Roboteers!

Matthew Zilz, Senior, was recognized as the Lutheran High School STEM Student of the Year! The Economic Development Council of St. Charles County honors one student from every St. Charles County high school for their strong contributions to STEM in their school. Matthew is extremely active with robotics and is a great representative of LHS! Congratulations Matthew!

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) presented awards to the outstanding senior female math and science students at area high schools. Katelin Dunagan (Math) and Paige Larkin (Science) were the award winners for Lutheran High School. Both Katelin and Paige did an exceptional job representing Lutheran High School – congratulations ladies!

The LHS Sapphires are hosting a Future Sapphire Dance Clinic and Showcase. Join them on Tuesday, March 21 at 3:30pm. Participants will receive a set of poms, a bow, a pizza party and dance with the 2023 State Champion Sapphires! Link to register:

Lutheran High School is seeking applicants for a full-time Art Teacher beginning with the 2023-24 school year. Courses to be taught include Art Fundamentals and Digital Arts. Applicants should have an Art Education background. Applicants should send resume and letter of interest to Dr. Jon Bernhardt at jbernhardt@lhssc.org. Applications are being accepted through March 13, 2023.

Nominations are being accepted for Lutheran High School Hall of Honor inductees for 2023. The Hall of Honor maintains the rich heritage and tradition at Lutheran High, serving as a means of recognizing, preserving, and honoring the school leaders, athletes, teachers, and individuals who have made significant contributions to LHS programs and the community at large. The online nomination form is available at 
lutheranhighstcharles.com under the Support tab. Nominations are due no later than March 15, 2023.

The LHS Art Department put together a coloring book focused on mental health called, Art and Faith. Students designed coloring pages that use imagery or words to promote a healthy and positive mindset. Additionally, devotions are interspersed throughout the book to help us reflect on God’s Word. Details for distribution will be shared soon.
