March 10, 2023

Dear Parents,

Please remember to move the clock forward for Daylight Savings Time on Saturday.

Teacher of the Month / Employee of the Month
We are a little behind. Please nominate your March teacher of the month and support staff that you would like to recognize. Our Student of the Month Assembly this month will be posted on YouTube and shared with all on Thursday March 16th.

There is no school on Friday, March 17th for Teacher Professional Development.

IAR Testing begins next week from 3/21 to 3/24. For more information please see our IAR Testing / Google Classroom Presentation

Lost and Found

Please remember to label your child’s coat and other personal items (lunchbox, water bottles, etc.). This will make it easier for the items to be returned to your child. If you would like to go through the Lost and Found before or after school, you can check in at the security desk with Mr. Serbia.  Lost and found items will be donated at the end of the month.

Visitor Procedures
Mr. Serbia has been instructed to hold visitors at the security desk until someone from the office escorts them to their destination. This policy will ensure that parents and visitors are able to get where they need to go while maintaining the safety of the students and staff. Your cooperation is appreciated.

The Austin-Irving Chicago Public Library Branch, offers another great service available to your students besides promoting the joy of reading and literacy. We now have our teacher in the Library. Her name is Dawn and her hours are M & W 3:30-6:30pm; Tu 3:30-6:00pm. Please let your children know that if they need help with homework after school, Dawn is available to assist with grades Kindergarten-Highschool. Please reach out to Omar Ramirez, Children’s Librarian II/1st Assistant

if you have any questions at oramirez@chipublib.org .

You may volunteer for the school parent groups by clicking the  Volunteer Interest Form.  Active participation in our parent groups is one of the best opportunities to become part of our school community.

If you plan on volunteering for a field trip please register here. (We know that it says day trip chaperones require a level 2 clearance, but parent chaperones are often out of the line of sight of the teacher and a more rigorous check helps to ensure the safety of all of our students.
