Looking forward to the Summer Workshops
Had a delightful workshop last weekend in Jackson NH, a pretty spot in the midst of the White Mountains.
The workshop addressed “The Figure in the Landscape”.
I came away with some different ideas on how to better handle my future workshops. It seems as if students would prefer a more specific workshop versus just a plein air class. I always push design, seeing that it is the foundation that we build upon but have decided to restructure my summer classes with this in mind.
So the first workshop on July 10-13 Monday thru Thursday will still be a plein air class. This workshop will be focusing on the importance of the LIGHT PATTERNS, which are a big part of any painting. Accurately capturing the effects of the light, be it with temperature and color vibration of the edges. Really delving into what makes them sing and how to use them to our advantage.

The second plein air workshop July 31- Aug 2, again Monday thru Thursday, will be addressing how to better understand our SHADOW PATTERNS and the role that they play. How to utilize them for the benefit of our design as well as maximizing our light impact. They too are a very big part of getting our light to sing as well as a huge part of the overall construct of our painting.

The Advanced class will be just that, covering all of the above, plus taking it a bit deeper, as well as what it takes to get to the next level of our evolution as an artist.

We will always deal with design in all of the classes and students will be taught according to their specific needs and desires.
