Question Period

During Board meetings, the public may submit questions to questionperiod@sd61.bc.ca at the beginning of the meeting. These questions will be answered during the Question Period by the Chair of the meeting, or staff, through the Chair, if an answer is readily available.

VCPAC Call for Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for VCPAC Executive positions. Information can be found here. Please have a sponsoring PAC send in your nomination to nominations@vcpac.ca by April 7th. Nominations may also be made from the floor.
 

VCPAC Award Nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the 2023 VCPAC Awards. We have many amazing people in our district and this is our chance to show our appreciation for their contributions to our students.

2023 - 2025 Calendar Feedback

The Greater Victoria School District is asking students, staff, and families to provide feedback on the proposed calendars for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 school years.

The School District calendars highlight non-instructional days, school openings, vacation breaks, and the last day of classes. The proposed calendars put forward the following for consideration:

2023/2024 Proposed School Year Calendar

  • First day of classes on Tuesday, September 5, 2023
  • Last day of classes before Winter Break – Friday, December 22, 2023
  • Schools re-open after Winter Break – Monday, January 8, 2024
  • Last day of classes before Spring Break – Friday, March 15, 2024
  • Schools re-open after Spring Break – Wednesday, April 3, 2024
  • Last day of classes for students on Thursday, June 27, 2024

2024/2025 Proposed School Year Calendar

  • First day of classes on Tuesday, September 3, 2024
  • Last day of classes before Winter Break – Friday, December 20, 2024
  • Schools re-open after Winter Break – Monday, January 6, 2025
  • Last day of classes before Spring Break – Friday, March 14, 2025
  • Schools re-open after Spring Break – Monday, March 31, 2025
  • Last day of classes for students on Thursday, June 26, 2025

The Greater Victoria School District has collaborated with neighbouring districts in Saanich (School District #63) and Sooke (School District #62) to align calendar dates, including spring and winter breaks, as much as possible.

All feedback can be directed to Communications & Community Engagement by email: community@sd61.bc.ca .

The deadline for feedback is Friday, March 31, 2023, at 4 pm. The calendars will be finalized and posted on the School District website in Spring 2023.

The 2023 AGM (May 6 & 7) will be held in conjunction with our annual parent education conference (May 5) in Richmond, BC. We are excited to have our members convene in person again. this year and look forward to seeing you there!

Resolutions

Resolutions vetted by the Resolutions Committee, to date, can be reviewed in current iteration of the AGM Booklet. The Resolutions Committee will continue to review additional Ordinary Resolutions as they are received. The AGM Booklet will be updated and circulated when appropriate.

Proxy Forms

All Regular Members in good standing who paid their membership dues by December 31, 2022 are entitled to vote at the AGM. A Proxy Vote Form must be completed and signed by two members of that member’s PAC or DPAC executive in order for an official delegate to attend and exercise voting rights during the AGM. To expedite registration and proxy processing, members are encouraged to scan and upload completed Proxy Forms at the time of registration

All Regular Members in good standing who paid their membership fees after December 31, 2022 are only entitled to attend and speak, but not vote, at the AGM. All Non-Voting Regular Members who wish to be represented during the AGM must designate an official delegate(s) to attend and speak on their behalf. Each Non-Voting Regular Member must complete their own authorized Proxy Speaker Formwith the appropriate council executive signatures. To expedite registration and proxy processing, members are encouraged to scan and upload completed Proxy Forms at the time of registration.

PAC EMAIL MAILING LISTS

VCPAC has a mailing list service, free of charge, available to all PACs. If your PAC would like to have a subscription-based email list, which parents can automatically opt in and out of, contact info@vcpac.ca

Article ideas and submissions can be sent via e-mail to info@vcpac.ca . Submissions should be sent to us no later than Friday, 9 PM prior to the day of distribution. Communications retains the right to edit all submissions for clarity.
