Newsletter of February 2023

We are excited to share with you the latest updates and progress  for the month of February. Last month was an important milestone for us, as we focused on the Design Reveal and the manufacturing and ordering of components to bring this new design to life. We are proud to announce that the Design Reveal was a huge success, with positive feedback from our team, partners, and family!

Design Reveal

The Design Reveal was an important event for us as it marked a major milestone in our journey towards creating our newest generation electric superbike. We were delighted to share this moment with our partners, family, and friends who have been supporting us throughout our journey.

At the Design Reveal, we presented our new design, which incorporates significant technical improvements, such as a new frame design and the implementation of a battery swap system. These changes have been made to keep innovating and push the boundaries as Electric Superbike Twente.

We also took the opportunity to look back at the beginning of Electric Superbike Twente, and how far we have come since we started this project. We reflected on the challenges we faced, the lessons we learned, and our progress.

The Design Reveal was a memorable experience for all of us, and we are excited to share a video of the event with you. You can watch the video on our youtube channel. On our socials we will also be sharing more updates on our progress in the coming weeks.

We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners and supporters for their support and belief in our vision. We are grateful to have you on board with us as we strive to create a sustainable future through innovation and technology.

Partner highlights

Conrad has been an invaluable resource for Electric Superbike Twente, providing us with a wide variety of high-quality parts and components that have played a crucial role in our ongoing success. Their extensive selection of products has allowed us to source everything we need to build and maintain our electric superbikes, from electronic components to manufacturing equipment.
Ten Kate Racing products is one of our oldest partners. They have helped us throughout the years with a variety of problems regarding parts. They allow us to use their high quality spare parts such as parts of the braking system and the Aim. Apart from this, they also give us access to their top of the line performance dynamometer.

A word from our Chief Chassis

Last month the focus was mainly on the design reveal, which was on the  22nd of February! That day, we could finally show the world the design we have come up with in the past months. The month was filled with preparation for this day. Our laptops were constantly running to render the animations of the different components we wanted to show during the presentation. After a busy period, it was a relief that everything went well that day. We got a lot of positive comments from all the invitees! Everything that day is recorded, so if you are interested in watching our design reveal (again), it can be found on YouTube!

Next to the design reveal, we already started to manufacture and order components for the new bike. We are in contact with many companies that help us to actually manufacture our design. After spending a week of holiday from the 27th of February, we have a fresh focus on building a motorbike with a swappable battery pack!

A word from our Chief Powertrain

Since the Design Reveal, we’ve continued building the motorcycle. More and more parts are ordered and tested. This is necessary because some designs are created but not proven yet. Before assembling the motorcycle, tests need to be executed to ensure performance and reliability. Other parts of the design are proven and don’t need as much testing. This will continue for the next month.

The broad approach after parts arrive is to first test all the parts, then the sub-systems. When all subsystems function properly, the motorcycle can be built. This way, problems can be isolated quickly early on in the process. One of the first tests includes the interconnection system, and partial structural gluing of the casing of modules. Other tests are vibration tests to verify whether bolts and nuts could potentially vibrate loose during racing. We are happy to be in the stage in which we are able to partially move away from the design software in the office, towards the workplace to work more with our hands.
