Enrich your Lenten Journey by participating in Stations of the Cross which will be held in the the Historic Church every Friday at 7 PM throughout Lent.  The service allows the faithful to trace the steps of Jesus as depicted in the framed illustrations along the walls in the main church. The devotion known as Stations of the Cross is an adaptation of a custom widely observed by pilgrims to Jerusalem: the offering of prayer at a series of places traditionally associated with our Lord's passion and death.  Daughters of the King will be hosting this spiritual event which is open to everyone! Come join us for one or all of the Fridays- March 17, 24, 31.

Stay With Me, Pray With Me-the Maundy Thursday Night Watch-April 6th

Resurrecting the Rice Bowl!!
Many parishioners may remember the Rice Bowl project that was held during the Lenten season for a number of years at All Saints’. Since the start of the pandemic, we had to put a pause on this effort. We believe this is a good time to resurrect this project. For those of you not familiar, the Rice Bowl project is a fund-raising campaign held during Lent (now through April 2). All the funds collected for this effort are directed toward a specific charitable organization. We alternate between a local charity one year and an international charity the following year.

Since we do this during Lent, we ask that you forego something during the week that you would spend money on and donate what you would have spent to the Rice Bowl. Heading to Starbucks to get a $5.00 latte? Give that up and donate that $5.00 to the Rice Bowl. Headed out for lunch? Maybe consider brown-bagging that day and donate what you would have spent to the Rice Bowl. This practice fulfills both the sacrificial and almsgiving elements to our Lenten spiritual practices.

This year we've chosen "Drop In The Bucket" to receive funds collected. This organization builds water wells in African villages that don't have access to clean water. Not only do they build the wells, but also educate and train the local villagers on maintenance and repair of the wells to insure continuity of water availability long after the well is constructed. Current cost to build a well is $7,000.

If you have any questions about this effort, please contact Cathy Guzauskas cathy09271@comcast.net or Linda Miller, Outreach coordinator at All Saints’. We are excited to bring this effort back to life and we ask that you prayerfully consider supporting this project.

Every Easter, the church buildings and worship spaces are beautifully decorated with Easter lilies and flowers.  These decorations are made possible by the donations of the congregation through special tributes to loved ones.  Please remember, there are no flowers on the altar during Lent, which runs through Palm Sunday, April 2.  Flowers may be given in memory of a person or in thanksgiving for a person or event.

Did you know…..

(from the Advocate’s website)

"In the 1980s a group of individuals and organizations led by All Saints Episcopal Parish, Frederick, Maryland partnered and worked together to address the growing homeless rate for families in the community. The outcome of their admirable efforts is the founding of Advocates for Homeless Families in 1988, an organization that has successfully impacted the lives of several hundred families who otherwise may not have had the support and resources to overcome their homelessness.”

Would you like to know more about the mission and programs of Advocates for Homeless Families, Inc? All Saints member, Dan Huebner, is currently serving on their Board of Directors. If you’d like to know how to become more involved please contact Linda Miller at lindy205@verizon.net and she will connect you with Dan.

The Getting Ahead Program

The Getting Ahead program is partnering with local organizations and churches to facilitate a program to help people stabilize their situations and build resources to improve their lives.  The goal for the participants (investigators) is self sufficiency in all parts of their lives.

Currently we have a need for volunteers on May 2 and May 16. In support of this Program All Saints' prepares and serves meals as well as packing up leftovers for the investigators and children, to take home. Thank you Laura Hammond and Katy Ackland for providing this week's meal.  Participants are very grateful to you.
