Martez Smith earns Presidential Diversity Award

PhD candidate Martez Smith, LMSW was recognized at the Presidential Stronger As One Diversity Awards with the Change Maker Award, which is given to UR students who aim to cultivate a fair and just climate, culture and community. Smith is a sexual health researcher and licensed social worker who has dedicated his life to educating and caring for individuals affected by AIDS and other health disparities. Read more about Smith's research, activism and postdoctoral plans.

Alumna Cheryl Lustik supports growth for APPs in new leadership role 

Cheryl Lustik '00N '03N (MS) '20N (DNP), who graduated as part of the inaugural cohort of Doctor of Nursing Practice Fellows in 2020, is now the director of advanced practice at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Sovie Center for Advanced Practice. She supports professional development for more than 1,000 advanced practice providers through advancement models, fellowships, publications, and research. Read her profile in NURSING magazine.

Meghan-Underhill Blazey, PhD, APRN, AOCNS, assistant professor at the School of Nursing and a nurse practitioner at Wilmot Cancer Institute, spoke to 13WHAM about colon cancer screenings and prevention during Wilmot's colorectal cancer awareness event at Greece Ridge Mall. Visitors were invited to walk through a giant, interactive, inflatable colon and talk to experts about gut health.
Jennifer Dry De Santo, MSEd, care manager for The Western New York Comprehensive Care Center for Eating Disorders (WNYCCCED), spoke to News10NBC about Eating Disorders Awareness Week. News10 also interviewed Santo Caruana, a local college student in recovery who is involved in the WNYCCCED's advocacy efforts.
