There are a lot of reasons you might prefer a home workout over an in-person class or the gym. No commute, no membership fees, no close proximity to a bunch of sweaty strangers. If you are a parent or caregiver, immunocompromised, trying to save money, or just genuinely love your little home gym space you created during the pandemic, working out from home is a great option.

The problem (albeit a good one): There are so many ways to do it. Online classes, virtual studios, and YouTube workouts exploded over the last few years. If you don’t know where to start, a simple Google search won’t narrow it down. And you can’t be sure that the person on the other end of your screen has formal training, even if they’re seemingly fit as hell. Just because someone is an influencer and looks shredded in their matching workout set doesn’t mean they have the credentials to tell you how to move your body.

In case you’re feeling decision fatigue before you even start your workout, we asked fitness experts at Fyt to share their favorite home workouts. You’ll need little to no equipment, and some are as short as 10 minutes.

(If you are at the beginning of your home workout journey and looking to invest in a few core essentials, we recommend a yoga mat, dumbbells, an adjustable kettlebell, and resistance bands.)

First Sightings header with a pouch of fruity Catalina Crunch cereal

I grew up with Fruity Pebbles, Fruit Loops, and all the seriously bad for you but oh-so-sweet sugary cereals. Catalina Crunch has been fixing my cereal sweet tooth these days, and the fruity flavor is SO good and reminiscent of the fruity cereals of my youth. Only zero-sugar and still packs a good crunch. (I find a lot of the healthier cereal alternatives can leave a weird consistency in your mouth.)

A deal! header with body wash and oil products from Maude

One of our favorite seaweed-forward brands, Rootless, makes whole-food nutrition bites in flavors like double strawberry, orange pistachio, and coconut chai. It’s a perfect li’l companion for your morning coffee, especially their newest cacao crunch flavor. You can get 20% off a starter kit with the code NESS20

Nessie tested and approved header with blue ankle and wrist weights

It’s easy to find workout or wellness gear that serves a not-so-secret dual purpose as a status symbol. (Think: Peloton, Lululemon, pretty much every green juice ever sold.) Another thing to add to this list? Wrist and ankle weights.

They are a solid investment for those who have taken their barre, yoga sculpt, or Pilates classes virtually since the pandemic started. They can add intensity to your workout and keep things interesting even if you don’t have access to all the bells and whistles you’ll find in your studio classes.

We reviewed a bunch, and found that the trendiest (and most aesthetic) brands aren’t always the most effective. Check out our favorites >>>
