Hi Friends,

Since starting my new role as the Programs Coordinator at the beginning 2023, I’ve had the awesome chance to work with truly each program offered by the Center. And, so, all I can say is — WOW — we offer some cool opportunities.

This week, I want to remind you of two of those opportunities: our 2023 Opioid Justice Campaign and our second Art of Activism Learning Lab of the year, both of which have applications that close…TOMORROW!

Read on to learn about how you can participate in a campaign that can literally help save lives and an online workshop that a past participant once described as “Literally THEE best education I’ve had in 6 years of serious political activism.” Even if you’re not planning to apply for those, I still urge you to keep reading so you can check out some fantastic examples of truly creative activism we’ve shared below.

Don’t miss out, y’all!

Happy applying,

Just ONE Day Left to Apply: 2023 Opioid Justice Campaign

Space is still available or our 2023 Opioid Justice Campaign, but hurry — applications are due tomorrow, March 15! If you’re working to end the overdose crisis in the United States, we highly encourage you to apply for this special opportunity.

Through an online, three-part workshop, the Center for Artistic Activism, in partnership with Open Society Foundations, will teach participants how to advance their advocacy with creativity and innovation. We’ll focus on the effect you can have on policy, pricing of treatments, and the distribution of opioid settlement funds.

Workshop participants will have the opportunity to apply for support for creative actions that are aimed at directing opioid settlement funds to harm reduction and evidence based care.

Don’t miss this chance to be apart of a campaign that can impact so many lives.

Apply before tomorrow’s deadline!

¡La Mega Clase! — Unstoppable Voters training in Orlando, Florida (2022)

Learning Labs are online workshops open to anyone interested in creative activism. Participants say they are transformative and provide incredibly useful tools and ideas.

Applications for the next one close tomorrow, March 15! Learning Labs are made up of six meetings, very small class sizes, discussions, and exercises, as well as hands-on activities to increase your understanding of the practice of artistic activism.

This upcoming Lab is facilitated by Workshop Leader, Sasha Yuri. Sasha has ten years of experience as a feminist educator, researcher and cultural worker. She has developed and led various film & media training programmes, courses and workshops for NGOs, activists, representatives of LGBTQI+, migrant and refugee communities and persons with disabilities.

What Happens in a Learning Lab?

Learning Labs are opportunities to learn from our research and experience with artistic activism around the world, but they’re also a place to meet fantastic people and draw inspiration from each other. One of our favorite parts of the Learning Labs is when everyone shares examples and stories of creative actions that have inspired them.

Here are a few artistic activism examples that participants and facilitators shared last week:

Are there creative actions or movements that have inspired you?

We can offer these opportunities because of supporters like you

We couldn’t offer Learning Labs and other opportunities and resources without the support of our community. Will you consider supporting artistic activism across the country and around the world with a gift today? Every single contribution is meaningful.
