Food Drive
The Mission Team will be starting our first drive of 2023 with a Food Drive to benefit Polenta's Backpack Buddies program as well as the Blessing Box located in front of the school. While any non-perishable items are appreciated, the items of greatest need are canned meats and 8 oz.-sized Horizon Organic shelf-stable milk. Additionally, pop-top cans are preferred when possible for children who may need to prepare food themselves and are unable to use a can opener. For additional donation suggestions, please visit the Backpack Buddies website. The food drive will go through Sunday, April 23rd.

Flowering Potted Plants
Beginning on Sunday, March 19th, we will have inserts in the bulletins for you to fill out if you would like to purchase a 3 gallon flowering potted plant in memory or in honor of a loved one for Easter. Please be sure to fill out if the plant is "in memory" or "in honor" on the slip and the names will be included in an insert that will be included in the Easter Sunday bulletin on Sunday, April 9th. Each potted plant will be $25. The ones you purchase will be yours to keep and take home after Easter worship service. These will be used to decorate the sanctuary for Easter. We must have all information slips and money returned by Sunday, April 2nd.

Oakland will be collecting for the One Great Hour of Sharing offering on Sunday April 2nd and Sunday April 9th. There will be special envelopes in the pews each of these Sundays for your donation.

The Annual One Great Hour of Sharing Special Offering

Dear Members of Presbytery,

Greeting in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Season of Lent is again with us and that means our focus among other things is on the annual One Great Hour of Sharing Special Offering.

As you all know this Offering has a three prong focus or emphasis:

1) Disaster Assistance

2) Hunger

3) Self-Development of People.

The OGHS is our Denomination’s largest Offering and the monies received during the Lenten Season and especially on either Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday is divided as follows:

32 % goes to the Presbyterian Disaster Program

32 % goes to the Self-Development of People

36 % goes to the Presbyterian Hunger Program

The NHP Peacemaking Network hopes that your congregation will receive this Offering on either Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday in support of these 3 worthwhile mission efforts of our Denomination.

Mission to Zambia with Covenant Presbyterian Church, June 2023
Covenant Presbyterian, Wendell, invites friends to consider participating in an outreach to Livingstone, Zambia in June 2023 for approximately ten days. In 2019, a team went to Zambia and discovered much joy as it partnered with David Livingstone Memorial Presbyterian Church and Wings of Hope Outreach Ministries in Livingstone. The focus of the trip is to offer medical clinics and educational services to vulnerable families, particularly middle and high school students. Our legacy app, CTRN Online Directory, will continue to work for the time being. However, it will be phased out in the coming months.

OPC T-shirts
We have had several requests for OPC shirts and sweatshirts. We have a link to the store now so you can order and pay for them all with using this link. There are a couple colors and styles too.

Do you know of someone in the church in need of some help with yard work? Need help with a project around the house? Do you know of someone that might need help with some cleaning? Oakland has a ministry for that! The helping hands ministry can help with yard work, small projects or clean up around the house. Please email Kate (secretary@oaklandpresbyterianchurch.org) if you know of a need and she will get you in touch with the right person.

Bob and Janet Foor are leading a weekly Bible Study on Wednesday at 11am in the Parlor.

There is also an evening weekly Bible Study led by Pastor Debbie on Thursday evenings at 7pm.

Be Bold is the ministry for 4th-6th graders and their meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be on Wed. March 22nd at 6:30pm.

PYC is youth group for 7-12th graders and holds their meetings every Sunday at 4:30pm in the youth center. This year the youth will be studying the book of Revelations.
