New Law Brings Mental Health to California Middle and High Schools’ Health Curriculum
Thanks to a 2021 state law supported by the California State PTA, more middle and high schools throughout California should be including mental health information in their health curriculum. Mental health education is one of the best ways to increase awareness, empower students to recognize signs in themselves and their peers, seek help, and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. COVID-19 POLICY
All attendees at California State PTA Events shall observe CDC, CDPH, and local health department guidance on infectious diseases. Attendees are encouraged to conduct a health self-evaluation before attending the meeting and should refrain from attending if they have any symptoms of illness. Masks/face coverings are strongly recommended in areas with less than six feet of distance, such as meetings and workshops. This policy expires Sept 30, 2023.

Learn more about the 2023 Resolutions at Convention
Convention delegates can vote on four resolutions at this year’s 2023 Convention in Sacramento! One of these is an update to one of our oldest resolutions. The other three, all from Thirty-Third District PTA, suggest tools and strategies to support students in the areas of literacy, synthetic and non-tobacco-sourced nicotine use, and access to the general education curriculum for all students.

Spotlight Awards are due by March 25th!
California State PTA wants to put your great programs and advocacy into the Spotlight! We hope you’ll tell us about the great things you’re doing, from advocacy and family engagement to student involvement and leadership development. Your PTA/PTSA can be recognized for the work you have already planned to carry out this year. It is our mission in PTA to positively impact the lives of all children and families - it is a team effort. Learn more about this award and apply or visit the leaders’ website.
Winners will be announced after April 24th. Check back for details on the Spotlight Award Online Celebration in May 2023.

Applications for the 2023-25 California State PTA Board of Managers are Now Open!
Be part of the nation's largest volunteer child advocacy association, working to improve all children's education, health, and welfare.

You'll hear from current state leaders, including President-Elect Shereen Walter, about what it takes to be an effective member of the board. Learn about the work of the state commissions and committees, the time commitment required of board volunteers, and the kinds of experience that are valuable when joining the board. INFORMATION FOR LOCAL PTA LEADERS

- March 25, 2023 - Last day for PTA/PTSA units and councils to apply for new Spotlight Awards celebrating excellence and innovative services in schools and communities throughout California.
- March 31, 2023 - End of early-bird (discounted) convention registration pricing and Exhibitor registration. Register now to get the best rate!
- The 2023 Convention Exhibitor Registration also closes on March 31! This year, the convention will kick off with a Welcome Reception in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday evening, and PTA Districts will have individual booths in the hall.
- April 15, 2023 - Last day for Convention registration transfers. Convention registration is not refundable but can be transferred to another PTA member.
- April 19, 2023 - online Convention registration ends.
- April 20, 2023 - In-person registration will begin at the SAFE Convention Center in Sacramento on April 20 at 4 PM and continues through Sunday, April 23, 2023.
