HIGHLIGHTS
From Jovita, first grade dual-language educator at Meadow Homes Elementary:

We have about 35 languages at my school. Kids are coming over from China, Afghanistan, Brazil, and Central American countries. Some of them are coming from war torn countries, some of them were escaping poverty. Some of them we don't know why they come they just come. They come because their families tell them this is a good place to be at.
But regardless of that, when a piece of paper gets picked up, when a desk gets cleaned, all these kids that come with trauma get that feeling of "this is a peaceful place. This is a calm place. This is a an environment where I feel safe." For those children, that's where I'm thankful to the Project Peace volunteers. You can feel when the kids come and sit down and see their sense of "okay, I'm okay."

To everyone who's involved in Project Peace to everyone who comes to pick up that piece of paper: you don't know the long term effects of of your time of your giving up your valuable time. You guys bring a lot of heart... just know that it's long lasting."
From Tom, principal at Oakland International High School:

"It's really great that people are inspired and willing to help us in this way. We do often feel like we just don't have enough. It can feel lonely like we're in here, and the rest of the world doesn't really know what's going on here. And so just knowing that there's all of these people willing to come and help and really contribute in this way that may seem simple, but it's actually really meaningful - helping to improve the physical environment of the campus - it's just wonderful."
